Argies playing well when they manage to keep 15 on the field.

Except for that donkey scrumhalf. Charged down twice in succession kicking from the base of rucks.

@booboo Yeah, this hometown TV director cooking is a blight on the sport. Maybe the TMO checked it but still…

Massive forward pass right in front of the AR. Completely ignored.

Looked like a penalty try to me. That was a slap in a forward direction. Even if ball maybe went sideways. Think this score line puts NZs effort into perspective. The French fullback is having a very good game. Dupont too he’s making all the right decisions.

The ball went backwards a metre.

The referee explained why he made that decision. And it was pretty obvious on repay

Yep his reasons are clearly not in the laws of rugby. The law does not mention hand direction. You must intentionally knock the ball forward to be penalised and he did not knock the ball forward. It must be intentional and it must be knocked forward. Two components need to be satisfied which weren't.

You don't have to knock on to be penalised for deliberately knocking the ball out of play.

If this France don’t send 20 top players to NZ next year, I need to see them dealt no mercy. Nothing else will suffice.

Pearce wanted to spend more time conversing in French instead of warning them for cynical offsides. Arg had their chances in that 10 min period but didn't take them.

It was an awful unbalanced display from him and the touch judges.

Of course he did. His own body language afterwards showed that.

He knocked the ball backwards and then it bounced to the side.

His action was forwards and towards the sideline. That much is obvious. In doing so he's violated law 7 b.

I find the English refs who attempt to speak French annoying. I know it’s pedantic but they constantly mix up the « tu » and « vous » forms. « Tu dois lâcher le ballon s’il vous plaît ». Just stick to English.

Law 7 is the advantage law.

9.7b was not the rule that Luke Pearce applied. It was 11.7 .

And I disagree with your assessment on the deliberate knocked out of play and your interpretation of his body language. The ball travels back a metre then lands on the ground and bounces 2 metres to the side. That's the bounce of the ball.

    11.3, no?

I love me a good laws showdown

Right? It's Friday noon for me - and all too easy to forget to skive off work.
