Not sure why there is all the critique of Fakatava... he was fucken awesome last week. Why can't we just celebrate having two good 9s?

good having two good halves.. however FF has been rocks and diamonds for years.. so a certain amount of criticism will always be around..... especially around the consistency of his option taking.

For sure. But last weekend was the best he has played since before his run of injuries

What a mover Hastie has been this season. If you'd asked me three weeks ago which halfback should be dropped at the end of the season he'd have been my pick. Now he's the one guy I think we can't loose.

Gilbert outside of being isolated that one time, has been great. Nice to see his defence has improved this season. Fantastic work from the team the back 20.

@frugby his high kick game is not the best and his pass is ordinary at best possibly your first 2 tick boxes to play at international level
Has some great strengths in and around his running game and jackals the odd turnover
Thats an opinion i got from a former All Black 9 , and i have got to say i agree

@Mattasaurus He was actually really good last season too after a slow start. He has his flaws, but I expect him to have a big season in what looks to be an improving side. With front-foot ball he is a heck of a threat around the ruck.

Hastie has been good, don't get me wrong, but I've seen Mosese Dawai look a million bucks against Moana. Let's see what he can do against the Canes in two weeks time.

    @SouthernMann it’s only Moana…..

Agree that the lack of depth arguments were being overplayed. If the Landers have so called depth issues then so do all the other NZ teams (except the Chiefs) based on what has happened early in the season.

Hastie is the only halfback contracted beyond this season. At this stage. He initially signed a three year deal from the start of last year

Yeah but we can only play who is in front of us. With the players we have available.

Only Moana could find themselves 31-10 down at halftime despite dominating a fair chunk of this game (apart from the Scoreboard of course).

And they are pretty basic errors that have been their undoing.

@Mattasaurus Sure, but we can praise Hastie without needing to shit on Fakatava, because again, he was superb last week, and was deservedly named to start this one.

Haven’t gone through this thread yet, will later, but just want to add this. Apologies if this has been said. This might be the worst commentary trio sky has put out. James Parsons… wow. The other 2 females… yikes. Come on sky, seriously.

It really is. The Highlanders weren't much in that half, but Moana certainly made them look the part.

Glad I’m in a noisy bar watching this so I don’t have to endure it.

MP need to respect the ball far better. A few of their forwards need to step up as other than Ardie most of them have been pedestrian.

Yeah probably a fair call mate.

I feel Hastie could be a bit quicker to clear the ball , and I do like FF as an impact player coming on late in the game ( I know he's injured tonight)

Good change JJ, Vikena’s inaccurate play should have seen him subbed.

@SouthernMann sorry should have clarified that I knew he was contracted beyond the season. But I rated Fakatava, Arscott, Pledger, Lennox...hell Connor Mcleod for me down in Southland was someone I rated higher.

    Hastie has pleasantly blindsided me.
