The ABs backline is genuinely fucked. No 9 has stepped up, the choice between BB and DMac at 10, no obvious pairing in the centres. Love hasn’t put any pressure on Jordan at 15. The wings are depressing when Sevu Reece is out performing a lot of them.

    @KiwiInLondon I think that's a bit over the top. We're not Wales.

The talent stocks in the backs are a long way from where I'd like them to be, but I still expect the ABs to be highly competitive but not dominant when the Tests roll along.

The point is that because nothing is set, we have another year (it’s been 10 years of farting around with combinations) of trying to figure out what to do.

We need two years minimum to get that backline ready for the WC.

@KiwiInLondon I think Wings can be drafted in and trained up with less than six months to go. Think Nehe Milner-Skudder in 2015. But yeah, Robertson and his team will need to be identifying the midfield combinations for RWC 2027 by this time next year.

Congrats to the Tahs, defended like demons.

Control the gainline and NZ is bereft of backline players who can construct anything when we are in a position where we can't trade possession for territory.

Do you jokers really think that Tupaea will replace Rieko Ioane at centre?

Really? I think Roigard has been ok, not great, but very poor is a bit over the top. Haven't really seen much better in super really.

Apart from a couple of early good games, he seems to of slipped right off the pace doesn't he? He seems to just carry into defence as a default setting.

I am pleased Wrampling is getting a start. I think he is one the best young midfielders going around in NZ at Super level. I really hope he can stay injury free from now on.

Well that was one big disappointment. He let himself down big time. I only saw the first half, did he come back on after the yellow? Hopefully it's a lesson learnt for him. I have never noticed that behaviour in him before.

I thought that might happen. Like most of the team, his mindset appeared to be way off the mark.

What's with Clayton's refusal to pick Narawa at 13?

Narawa was a star at 13 for BOP but Clayton refuses to give him a run there

@KiwiMurph it was a massive error imo , I thought Baylin Sullivan did a great job of completely shutting down Sualii a few weeks back but to bring a rookie in Wrampling for last nights game was just beggered belief , Narawa was superb at 13 for Bop last year and looked more of a threat when he came on

I don't see the need to play Narawa at centre. The backs involved in this game are the only ones fit and available. Moving Stevenson to the wing to accommodate changes at 10 and 15 was more of an issue. Dumb from McMillan.

Just getting to the last act now. O'Donnell is physically impressive

It will be interesting to see what he could do in the Lions series.

Think he will make the Tahs v Lions game but Ikitau probably slightly ahead on experience.
