@Canes4life 💯..why can’t some of the best coaches see the pictures we are seeing
Maybe Leinster will throw him a life line and throw him on the wing

Same reason Christie keeps starting and was an AB as recently as last year?

Beehre must be getting close to a black jersey. I would pick him ahead of Holland.

This Rieko should have stayed on the wing narrative is using an incredibly short memory. He moved into the midfield after being dropped for George fucking Bridge... that tells you how well he was playing on the edge.

Well that's somewhat misleading. He had a leg injury that never came right in 2019 - which is why he looked all sorts of rubbish even on the wing.

2020 he was back to his full fitness but had moved to 13 by then

@akan004 If Holland played for the Blues, and Beehre played for the Highlanders, this wouldn't even be a conversation.

Beehre looks a good player for the future, but he has got some bulking out to do. Certainly does more around the field than Josh Lord ever has though.

Or have both and pick them over Lord. Problem solved.

Holland and Beehre are completely different players, though: Holland has a dominant defensive profile while Beehre's stand-out quality is his ability to make metres in attack. They wouldn't be competing for the same spot.

Neither are particularly dominant lineout players.

In reality the Crusaders aren’t playing any better than they did last year, just getting a bit more luck. They will come unstuck in a big way if they don’t start improving soon.

Who’s consistently playing better than them? Where do they sit on the table?

That is pretty much what the stats suggest, though Holland is a defensive lineout threat (4 Steals)... I suspect in a better side, Holland would look way more dominant. Beehre to me still looks a little lightweight for the style of player that he is.

Beehre has Holland covered around the track - at least at this stage - two players who should only continue to improve

Crusaders are undoubtedly better than they were last year. As the Blues are much worse. The addition of JOC and form of Hotham have definitely made a substantial difference. The bounce of the ball is coming their way more than last year.

I'd also suggest the competition is more equal. I don't think that they're playing clearly better than everyone else though and not well enough yet I'd back them to win the comp.

I don't see that with Beehre at all - he seems to me to be right up at the top ball in hand, always impressed at his drive.

@akan004 If Holland played for the Blues, and Beehre played for the Highlanders, this wouldn't even be a conversation.

Beehre looks a good player for the future, but he has got some bulking out to do. Certainly does more around the field than Josh Lord ever has though.

Holland and Beehre are completely different players, though: Holland has a dominant defensive profile while Beehre's stand-out quality is his ability to make metres in attack. They wouldn't be competing for the same spot.

Neither are particularly dominant lineout players.

That is pretty much what the stats suggest, though Holland is a defensive lineout threat (4 Steals)... I suspect in a better side, Holland would look way more dominant. Beehre to me still looks a little lightweight for the style of player that he is.

I don't see that with Beehre at all - he seems to me to be right up at the top ball in hand, always impressed at his drive.

Beehre isn’t from an exotic European country so slightly harder to hype up

Just as well he signed the contract before this game. I blame him rather than the young props for that game-winning penalty.

I get everyone loves to pile on Rieko because he's not some super fast Conrad Smith, but it's an awful high bar in that weather to clean up a ball that shoots out of a ruck as a result of another veteran All Black's poor decision.

I'm not absolving Barrett either, but you can bet certain people in the media will still be talking him up. It was obvious that playing in the opposition half was crucial in the last 5 mins.

I also thought McWhannell made a positive impact as a sub. He's always been good at winning opposition lineout ball, and did well in that maul turnover.

You just can’t make excuses for Reiko anymore unless he goes back to the wing

He could have been one of our greatest wingers, should have stayed there.
