The small things often matter in games like this. And there were plenty of small moments from both sides that built up to impact opportunities.

Impressed with our D to cut off many opportunities the Chiefs wanted to move it wider. The conditions and the gruel took its toll on the chiefs forwards in that second half and they looked gassed playing a lot of ball in their own half.

Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination but at least it was close (I guess)

Stoked for Penny, Havili, Taylor and all the boys.

I wonder if the Chiefs long bouts of passivity coincided with LJ's Knock because his fellow loosies didn't stand out for me (but I suspect Sititi had a decent tackle count, not sure about Finau).

Oh yeah, congratulations crusaders, you made a lot of referees very happy.

Naaaah good stuff, weird season where just quietly chipped away and never seemed convincing, but delivered efficiently come finals time. Enjoy.

@sparky Sititi carried pretty well in 2nd half. Alone amongst the Chiefs.

All Blacks should do better than 'pretty well' in a final. Vaa'i did better. Sititi's season has been a bit of a nothing burger. Second season curse?

Without Reihana, crusaders probably out in the semis. What a find.

Jordan definitely the Crusaders difference maker in these big games. Reihana has been superb, seems like a steady hand, unlike DMac.

@Canes4life Reihana looked destined for big things when he was at St Kentigern College but just went from one injury to another and then he did’nt see lot of game time at the Chiefs because of ongoing injuries it was ironic when Luke Jacobson congratulated Rivez on his motm performance there was almost lament he was a chiefs man
Hoping Rivez will be named in the NZ Māori squad 😉

Actually I sorta found it funny, much to the families discust/horror. They wont me to stop making jokes about it.
I feel it's what would have made me a good Cannes/Chiefs supporter. Humor in adversity
Ive had a resonably good life so no complants and it beats dimentia which every other elder male family member seems to have developed.
Although the Wife thinks I may have that as well. She's never worked out it's just because I don't listen to her.

I think we've seen the end of calls for Stevenson to be an All Black based on that performance.

And Beaudy is now clear first choice 10.

I would still have DMac as first five. No his fault their front row wasn’t up to it.

I see those errors most weeks. The difference was the Crusaders set piece was so dominant the Chiefs didn’t have the attacking opportunities they usually do. Probably the missing thing in DMacs game was goal kicking - conversion wide out and a penalty from 45m. Small margins.

Will await to hear from any of the Ferners that were at the game, but I wonder what the conditions were doing with the kicking decisions. When the Saders turned down a couple of chances in the 2nd half and DMac had missed a couple in that first half, I just wonder if there was more to it.

Last game ther they have said. The plan as I understand it is for the Crusaders to have home games in in Nelson and elsewhere in exchange for the Super Round when the Pavlova opens in April.

No. I think the stadium opens in April.

Last game ther they have said. The plan as I understand it is for the Crusaders to have home games in in Nelson and elsewhere in exchange for the Super Round when the Pavlova opens in April.

What are the plans for the current stadium, Coat it in Gold? The record they have there is impressive, new stadium will be a lets start again for records

Congratulations Saders fans, sounds like you guys deservedly won.

I didn't watch the game. Honestly speaking I just couldn't be bothered - the Chiefs already lost once this finals series and I lost interest then, I was pretty sure they'd lose tonight.

Instead, I spent the afternoon in the sea with my boy - he managed to get on his feet on his surfboard for the first time. Fantastic afternoon.

@Mainlander Nah we have also rolled the ole Lancaster Park/Jade/ Pounamu Stadium into the records, so the Pavlova gets added to Rugby League Park/No Heineken/Horncastle/Apollo's record.

Which is now sitting at 15.

@gt12 as a rugby spectacle it was a hard watch. As with most close games it had its drama.

                                          Congrats to your boy.
