Have heard there is 1 injury enforced change for Northland, wing Quentin Nichols picked up an injury, so assume Brady Rush comes straight in...

Possibly 1 other change to starting line-up, which will be straight swap with one from last weeks bench and several changes to the bench (sounds like Rob Rush & Nathan Salmon coming off the bench)

Oddly, Peita comes in for Hooper who was one of our better players last week, Brady Rush to wing in only other starting change, while 6-2 split on bench with Rob Rush and Solmon coming in.

@taniwharugby Hooper was our best player last week but Peita was good when he came on. Basically we got nothing going last week - Rivez was shoddy so expecting a better game from him. Forwards weren’t too bad against a strong Taranaki pack except for lineouts when Mullan came on. Hopefully everyone has introduced themselves and we hang on to the ball ( reduce errors, don’t kick it away poorly ) and we win.

@kev with that 6-2 split, hopefully we dont pick up injuries, assume Evans covers 10, 12 and Salmon covers 13, 11, 14...

Yeah I think the pack should give them.some good ball, but we need Nock and Reihana to step up and unleash our backs.

Nothing between the sides in the 2020's. Two wins each and a draw. Northlands last win over Southland was in 2022

@taniwharugby Nocks not a great sniping halfback so relies on forwards to create momentum and space. For the Blues they had him passing quickly from base but can be slow to pick his runners. Reihana missed the line on multiple occasions - dreadful kicking game which is unusual. You add to that combo some dropped ball and missed line outs and we got nothing going last week. I expect better tonight.

He has the challenge over the next year of putting on a fair bit of weight without losing his explosiveness.

Looks like he is playing fullback. Gregory to centre

Hasn’t looked out of place in his first 10mins tonight. Lovely kick and chase into the corner earlier too.
