Fucking hell, had to double take at Chapman playing his 50th... don't recall even hearing of him. 40 games for Ta$man with one try, then bags 5 for Canterbury in one season.

Mostly off the bench for Ta$man, because he's been stuck behind Christie and Hotham.

Pretty clear deal this year to swap him for the fading Mitch Drummond, so that Chapman gets gametime and can take the third Crusaders halfback slot. Which backfired (for Ta$man), when Hotham and Drummond got injured and Christie spent the season with the ABs.

    Pretty good effort by Canterbury.

I thought they might be hurt by Bell and Darry being called up, but having McAllister to play most of the minutes and Cahill onto the bench probably exemplifies their strength in depth, which is probably one of the biggest differences between them and other teams this year.

I'll bite, wtf are you on about George those 2 lads will have the zoo pumping during super, the fact of the matter is they were huge reasons why Otago made it to the big dance for the 1st time in 20 years, Canterbury were just better today came out firing in the 2nd half, knocking two young lads in their 1st full class season is just stupid

Is that the Wellington Lion symbolically focussed on taking out the Hawkes Bay Magpie at the rear of the field? 🙂

Either that or he’s going for what’s becoming a very tiresome argument of, ‘This player played in a playoff game and the team he played for didn’t win, therefore, he’s not very good.’ It’s basically a way of trying to justify you want another player (who plays for the team you support) without actually being clever enough to articulate why your favoured player is better.

Good final and great to see the stands full.

Would've loved to see Zach Gallagher stick around in NZ. Bit annoying he's signed to the Toyota Verblitz by Steve Hansen & Fozzie, who are helping drain NZ talent.

@george33 what an odd comment , i dont think anyone’s suggesting either Casey or Pledger are at All Black level atm
Kids like this is what makes the Npc exciting both of them have lit up this comp imo and the Npc is better for it
Super Rugby will no doubt be step up for both i have no doubt both of them will handle it
Theres a few players in the current All Black team that hardly look world class atm

Pledger looks like he’ll almost certainly play for the All Blacks and if he didn’t need to spend a bit of time putting a few extra kilos on, I’d have him in there now. The All Blacks have one good half back right now. The others are ordinary.

@ShaquilleOatmeal Hotham's not ordinary, he just needs a decent injury free run. If he gets that NZ will have three decent 9s by '27, fingers crossed.

@ShaquilleOatmeal No need to rush Dylan Pledger, but yeah all going well, he'll be in the ABs next year. A remarkably talented young half back, who should only get better with a full pre-season and a full season of Super Rugby.

Hotham isn’t in the All Blacks right now…

Meh, Hotham is just TJP without the defensive edge.

More evidence is required on Hotham - jury is out.

Agree. I liked what I saw from him this year, but some work ons for sure. Hopefully an injury free run will see him develop more.
