    According to Charles Richardson at the Torygraph, Steve Borthwick sees Henry Pollock as a backrow/wing hybrid:

    @Catogrande It might work against one of the minnows, but it's a recipe for disaster against a Tier 1 team.

    @sparky

    It's overall a bizarre mixture of selection, certainly in terms of risk. When you think of selection risk you tend to think of a young'un getting thrown in at the deep end for his attacking flair/pace/whatever, and that has a real potential upside. But what we have here is selection risk with no real upside. If that lack of cover on the bench actually works either through a backline replacement not being necessary or Pollock or Earl doing "a job" in the backs there is still nothing there that would suggest you would use this policy if you were playing France or NZ say in a World Cup knockout game. So what actually is the fucking point?

    If he had to go for the 6-2 split, which I really don't think is necessary, except maybe v SA, then pick M Smith who at least covers two positions and allows some flexibility.

    Madness.

    Although the Aussies have selection challenges of their own, so this experimentation may not matter.

    @ACT-Crusader Which would be blind luck rather than selection genius.

    @Catogrande don’t underestimate a bit of blind luck, Rassie has been riding that train for a while now.

    They don’t have many options though. Two injured. JOC unavailable also. Stewart has played some 10. Also Gordon can cover at 10 in an emergency.

    Underhill and Earl will be licking their lips at the chance to smash Edmed.

    Fortunately he's a ranga, so he isn't like the rest of us in terms of human pain

    The lack of soul means he creates pain in others, just from his mere presence.

    I wish I shared your confidence. I feel we are a back line injury away from being a completed jigsaw that has just been dropped on the floor.
