I’m at that age too. Although you could say I’m one better in that I went to check the score in the ABs/Ireland game which hasn’t even started yet.

What a frustrating game, probably for both sides.
Aus are sa few players away from being a good side and the ones that weren't available today would have made a difference. Depth the issue here..
England have depth in abundance but are struggling to find the way they want to play. We bring that team and that game plan to the Argies or Kiwis and we will lose. Possibly the Fijians too.
A question here is how in terms of a game plan have we gone back so far from the summer series?
Plusses for England - depth in the forwards is now looking very good. Minuses - muddled thinking about our back line and attack, leading to some bizarre selections overall. Let's hope Lee Blackett gets a bit more influence.
Aus Plusses. McReight was a complete nusiance all day. Not flashy but does the basics really well and is an 80 minute man. Some serious atheletes in the backs but lacking at 10 and a little at 9.. Minuses - overall a lack of physicality in the forwards (honarable mentions aside). I don't quite get Wilson, yeah he carries a lot and maybe he makes some meters but he don't make many post contact metres. Why is he there?
Overall I thought were were a 6/10 performance and were still significantly better that THIS Aus side. Not sure what we learned from that game save that we didn't ge things right?

We don't have a top 30.
We have a top 12-15 then a bunch of honest toilers, who have come through a system that doesn't prepare them for Test Rugby.
By all measures we are a second tier nation; pulling out the occasional great win against the big boys, while under threat of losing to anyone in the top 20 on the day.

Stan sport has a replay feature called Ball In Play - no fluff, just the game itself. Runs about 50 minutes which sounds about right, when you include the few seconds for scrum engagement and lineout throw.
Ref team has been a bit shit honestly. Counter ruck not staying on feet enough for mine, and some forward passes missed...
That said, our scrum and lineout is pretty good through the first 50 game time

Maybe when you're that young, and that talented, you can afford to be a fuckwit.
Certainly when I've watched or refereed U21 Rugby here the chances of a fight breaking out always seem to be higher due to the fuckwit factor and associated carry on.
You just hope that, one day, they get sorted out in a full seniors match by a 40yo prop.

Not convinced by Dingwall or Steward for England yesterday , but I thought rest of their team looked very good indeed.
Once Steve Borthwick works out England's best 23 and how to play them then they are going to be a major threat to just about everyone.

Freeman needs to completely ditch the winger mentality before he gets another gig at 13. He butchered two tries for Feyi-Waboso by lack of vision/greed/not trusting his pass.
I'd actually like to see him at 15 at some point.

He wasn’t alone in being blinkered, Feyi-Waboso butchered at least one as well.
Winger’s speed for the outside arc and you have another Guscott on your hands

Stability at 10 has been a big issue this season. You’ve looked poor with Noah, up and down with Lynagh, probably the best with JOC, and now Edmed is treading water at this level.

TBH mate it looks like they're mostly aping the way South Africa have won the last 2 RWC, which is not much different from the way England have played anyway. Why not if it works?

Don't pass more than once unless you have acres of space and serious numbers.Besides that one maul leading to a try late in the game - mostly the difference in quality between the benches IMHO - the forwards were fairly well contained by the Wallabies at set piece and even around the park. Tho McReight saved our blushes a few times
I think they've found the way they want to play, and as you say, it is Borthwick's conservative nature that will continue to guide the outcome.
They tried going in the general direction of flair but Marcus Smith found out the hard way that hoppy-steppy stuff has a ceiling when everyone else is bigger and faster.
