Was impressed by Tangitau's all around work - made his tackles - kick chase. Hope it continues.

He looks a lot different in a Highlanders jersey than an Auckland one

Great grit from Highlanders. But Fakatava and Millar need to be more clinical than they were tonite, allowing Crusaders back in it. Blackadder and Jordan went ok. Jonah Lowe has some nice touches, as did JRK

Put an inside combo of Pledger and Jacomb and that backline goes up a level.

Only saw second half, but wasn't impressed by Crusaders halfbacks. Early days yet though.

I'm hoping the same applies for the Blues Auckland npc boys tomorrow

Jamie Joseph certainly looks like someone who will be named AB coach. He looks over the moon.

He may well be - but he is comfortably the best we have, and he consistently nails those moments.

Crusaders not their usual clinical best but full credit to the Landers for their D

No use powering into defenders if you can't hold onto the ball. Ongoing problem for Leicester that they need to work out. Teams know what he's going to do and attack that.

Far too many soft dropped balls by the Crusaders - LF, Ennor and Gardiner all guilty of shockers.

Jordan looking like a five-time World Team of the Year player. Nearly won it on his own.

Fakatava back to his hesitant form at the ruck.

Think you have to be careful with making sweeping statements off game one… a lot of rusty players out there.

Yet to see this game but Casey seems a really exciting player to me. But his hero is McCaw, he's really a 7 isn't he?

I think he is an 8. Or at the highest level a versatile bench loosie.

Prior to his Otago season, played the majority of his club footy last year at 8.

He is a wide running loosie, who can run, pass and link well.

If he is going to become an eight, he probably needs to go up to about 110kg.

Has our current AB 8 issue of limited height as well then, unless he is amazing in the lineout...

Well I enjoyed that . Typical first up game, was pretty messy ,especially first half, but how can you not be happy when underdog wins the first up game. And just because they refused to lose, not the flashest team, just one that got stuck in!
Will worry about all the technical stuff tomorrow, but that kind of rugby does me today!

If he is going to become an eight, he probably needs to go up to about 110kg.

Has our current AB 8 issue of limited height as well then, unless he is amazing in the lineout...

Looks a very good no20. Covering 7&8. Taller and heavier than Kwagga Smith who makes a great impact in international footy.

I can think of at least one reason! 🙂
