Now or never: Taking it to the next level

Didn't get out yesterday of course. Felt lethargic most of the day, which means that I have to get the morning sessions in. Feel much better when I do them.
Today. Back and biceps. No nonsense. Very good session.

Shoulders and triceps. Kept it pretty simple. 10,10,10 plus dropset.
Might have to take a week off soon as I'm feeling very stiff around the upper back and neck muscles. They've been hit pretty hard in recent times.

Are you doing any mobility stuff or accessory work? Quite a lot of stuff you can do to keep loose. Could mix up the workouts to avoid loading too much on a particular body part?
But good call to listen to your body - couple of days and you'll be firing and amping for a hit out.

Not really. Ideally I'd be in the pool most days but obviously it's too cold for that at the moment.
I started a 4 week program about 4 months ago and liked it so much I kept it on rotation. It really blasts the back and shoulders in particular and I think they need a break. Results have been excellent though. I liked shocking the body and mixing heavy with light and dropsets. But that shit takes it's toll after a while.

Legs today. Only had half an hour and went for broke. Feeling it!
-
Friday: Chest and arm tickle. Very good.
Had half day off so went for a run before lunch. Usual 10 laps of local oval plus leg ups after each lap. Good shit.
Weekend: Final rugby games. Eldest won his 3rd premiership in a row. Was a terrific display actually against a team that pulverised them in their previous encounter. As backs coach I was very proud.
Anyway was so chuffed after that and the weather was so nice I went for a run. Kangaroo shit everywhere but I've found me a very nice course.
Today: Was up ready to go but bit the bullet and will take the week off. I've been hitting it really well for the past few months, but I need to give the body a rest. I'll still go for a couple of runs and do some Wednesday crossfit but will stay away from the heavy weights for a week. As @Paekakboyz says, you have to listen to your body.

Day 2 of no training and am struggling. I realise now just how important it is to me getting through the day mentally. Not much work either so the necessary distractions just aren't there. Still, better to be depressed for a week than screw up my neck or back.
Lot of hospital visits now and that hits me pretty hard. Why people don't do everything they can to avoid those places is beyond me.

check out some neck and back stretches bro - there is a bunch of stuff you can likely do to relieve the pressure and soreness, while still getting something physical done. Hang in there bro, you'l be training the house down in no time

I'll be fine mate. Body needed a rest. It's just really bad timing now because I realise now how badly I need the distraction. We're heading into last chance saloon unfortunately.

aw shit man, that is rough news. Hope things go as well as possible, Kia Kaha

Thanks mate.

Wife was obviously sick of me being a sad sack of shit and implored me to hit gym on Saturday. Was a glorious chest and bicep session. Wanted to back it up on Sunday but seriously overdid it the previous day. Ironically it seems my neck issues are caused by my crap posture in front of the computer and training is helping that rather than being a contributing factor. Whatever the case I smashed the shoulders today and it was farking nice.
Wife told me that I should continue training for the good of the family. Think she was trying to tell me something....

Bro, no doubt the stress levels are high, and you are doing everything you can for the family, work etc. Good call from the missus to take a bit of time to train. She can see the gainz ha ha - both mental and physical

I know its a cliché when you talk about training = wellness etc. etc., but it is so true. I don't know if it's a chemical balance thing or a mental focus thing, but the difference is absolutely enormous.
As for physical. Yes, that is a bonus, but weirdly enough it seems women prefer to watch Magic Mike on TV rather than marry him. They be farking weird creatures.

Took youngest to scate ramp and decided to go for a run. It's located at a beautiful area near the river. Ran the marked 2km one way then went on something into the bush call the Zigzag. Thought it was a zigzag through the bush but it turned out it was up hill and steep as a mofo. Farking killed me. Made it up but that shit hurt. Ran more through the bush and struggled to find a path back, but did eventually. Was a cracker of a run and son was also happy as Larry. Subway and a slurpee afterwards.

Sunday: Day of rest of sorts.
Monday: Legs. Focussed on and on point. Squats, extensions etc. No mucking about.
Tuesday: Shoulders. Same as Monday. Limited time, no stuffing around. Gym very quiet in the mornings these days. Not complaining, but if people in NZ and Northern Europe stayed in bed when it was a little cold, farking nothing would get done.
-
Wednesday: Crossfit and cardio.
500m row + 20 pushups x 4
15 x slam balls, box jumps, burpees 25 crunches x 5 - This absolutely murdered me.
2km run
60 sec row, 60 sec rest X 5
2km run
Ab work
I hate it but I love it!!!
Thursday: Due to total sloth and incompetence on the part of my eldest spawn, I only had 35 minutes. But it turned out to be a pretty damn effective workout.
Bench press: 25, 15, 10, 8, 8
Incline bench superset with bicep curls with bar x 3
Cable crossovers superset with concentration curls x3
Dumbell bicep curls: 15, 6, 6 (22 kg)
Dips x 3Not bad considering.

Friday: Too much hospital shit on unfortunately.
Saturday: Back and triceps. Good session. Ended with 30 burpees.
Went on the piss later that night. First time in about a year. Was sensible enough to realise my limit and resisted starting on the spirits. Was enjoyable night, but Im over it. There's just too little time for being tired and hungover on a Sunday.
Had left the car near the pub, so walked with youngest there the next day. Was a about 7km so it was a good little walk.
Another shitty day Monday.
Good shoulder session today.
Seems I have to go almost every day now or otherwise it's difficult to get through the day. It seems to have gotten to the point where the body or brain or something needs that morning kick. Otherwise I'm pretty well farked. Will just be tired, worried and depressed. Yesterday was a very good example.
