So rushed to the airport yesterday just in time for baggage drop, but bitchez were talking at the desk so we were told our bags couldn't make the flight. Much anger. Then we get to the other end, and while I am on hold to the airline, the bags come around the carousel!

In short, fuck you Qantas. After Friday I'll avoid you as best i can.

A few relaxing beverages when we got in, then a 5km run in 25:59 this morning. Had to stop half way to off load some little brown edit passengers. That helped the second half of the run I must say.

It also helps that there is some fine, FINE talent getting around Main Beach early in the morning. Its great if you can find one who runs at your pace or just higher, then let them drag you along for inspiration.
Did ice skating for the first time ever today at the ripe old age of 36. Tricky business, that. In about 80 minutes on the ice I only fell once, straight on my arse. Wife managed to slip on her butt once as well, ripping a fingernail on the way down which pieced the next finger over and bleed like a stuck pig! Weirdest injury I ever did see.

Losing weight this week is going to be tough with alcohol around.

Got an email from the recruiter today after Thursday's interview. Wanted to know what salary I wanted. Thing is, I turned it down because it didn't feel right. First time I've ever turned down a job...

Short walk this morning - 2.5 km in just over 20 minutes. Not as humid today but sun had a sting in it. Today is Dreamworld so I didn't have time to run, and will need the energy to haul the kids around at some point no doubt.

This holidaying stuff is hard work. I'm almost prepared to concede defeat to TR in the race to 90 kg.

Nah screw that defeatist talk mate. Remember the ratio to lose weight is 70% diet and 30% exercise, so make sure you are putting 70% of your effort into your diet and hydration.

You can do that on holiday, have a plan and stick to it.

Yep, I didn't deny myself anything on holiday and only put on 0.01kg. Just have the good stuff, but less of it, and be active on holiday too.

And drink lots of water to keep yourself full, and hydrated.

Main problem at the moment is regularity in the bowel area, which is probable due to alcohol intake versus water intake.

Have been following a pattern of one large meal a day and minimising junk food. No idea if it's working until I get home and back to the scales.

1 large meal??? A lot of views now that meal timing is irrelevant (and I'm not quite sold on that yet) but its probably not ideal for bowel regularity.

I have other meals - just keep them "normal" sized. The large is holiday-sized, so I get to enjoy myself but limit the damage

So, feeling restless tonight and having had too much to eat and/or drink at dinner, decided to check out the "cardio gym" at this joint. I also still haven't punched out that nard yet and thought some physical activity might assist.

Effectively, cardio gym works out to be an air conditioned room with two TVs, a rower (concept 2, natch), cross trainer, two treadmills, and two bikes (upright). I've seen worse at better rated accommodation.

Given my personal distaste for treadmills I decided to have a go at my first ever 5km row. I paced myself, not knowing what to expect in terms of physical pain. The screen was all weird with a pace boat or some crap, but I just kept hitting buttons until something with time and distance appeared. It also had calories per hour which I tried to keep above 1000.

After the first km I tried to settle into a steady rhythm with maximum stroke length.
After two km I had to break for hydration - that would be the cans of bourbon and coke coming back to haunt me.
After three and four km I also stopped for sippage but had to get cracking when the screen went off.
The last 500m I busted pretty hard and managed to get there in decent time for me.

Total time 19:39 - I was assuming for under 20 minutes, given I can do a 500m under 1:40 if I try hard enough. Shoulders are going to hurt tomorrow.

After that I thought I'd take 5 km on the treadmill at steady pace but was too knackered from the row and all the walking around Dreamworld today. So I did 1km instead and then some cat voms and stretching.

Right now I'm sitting on the balcony of our digs, nekkid in the dark, cooling down with a bottle of water. Reckon a couple more of these and I'll show that turd who's boss.

5 km run this morning in 28:20 which was bad, but I felt like crap.

This health issue has turned out to be an abscess, so I'm on antibiotics. Doesn't look like the antibiotics are doing the trick, so this one will need lancing. Ugh.

Edit: just made the connection - the antibiotics are causing the digestive issues. Duh!

Abscess turned into a clot. Exercising now profoundly uncomfortable in any form, as is anything in general (including breathing). Went back to see the doc, who lanced it and then said I'd better go see a surgeon. Fuck.

Just changed the dressing and its bleeding like a mofo. Hopefully the incision heals over the next 24 hours... Weight loss regime planned for post-holiday is pretty much fucked if I have to go under the knife again.

Let this be a lesson to the rest of you - it's something you never want, and was due to my earlier life as a fat, sedentary, prick.

Anyway, despite that, the lack of exercise, the drug-induced constipation, holiday eating and alcohol intake, I thought I should weigh in and keep it rolling officially:
Today: 94.0kg, Chest 109, Waist 97, Hips 102
Today: 95.4, Chest 109, Waist 99, Hips 103.

Ugh. The weight and waist measurements indicate just how constipated I am, so the goal for this week will just be to get the digestive system working again properly. Any exercise is a bonus.

jeez thats rough....I somehow got blood poisoning through a tiny scratch on my finger many years ago, it swelled up like nothing I've ever seen, when it was lanced, the wound sitting open like that, you wonder how there could be what at the time was a wound about an inch deep on the second bone of my middle finger, Dr said if I had waited another 24 hours, I probably woulda lost the finger!

Fluids mate, keep them up to help cleanse your system of the toxins!

Mate, that's rough! Just double down on your food and fluids and you'll keep the weight off. I'd be surprised if you much of an appetite anyway!

Also, now you are having an enforced break you'll get a good kick when you start the exercise again.

Weird day. Bummed around all morning, shops in the afternoon, then decided to go for a walk as exercise seeing as how I've done nothing since Friday's diagnosis. I am planning a hike in a few weeks so decided to get the hiking boots and pants out to start acclimatising again after a summer in fivefingers and shorts. Had to take the rain jacket too as it was sprinkling.

6 km in 53:48. At about the 5 km mark I started to get spots in my vision - I'm a migraine sufferer so this means aura and that usually means pain. I'm about 4 km from home at this point, and within half an hour of some serious head pain based on past experience.

Ran 1.4 km in 7:52 but couldn't sustain it with the hiking gear on.

Walked the last 2 km in 17:15 and had a cold shower when I got home, followed by a litre of water and a couple of hours' sleep. Woke up, ate dinner leftovers, and settled into watch a couple of episodes of "The Man Who Cycled The Americas". Scottish people aren't right in the head.

Interestingly, it was not as harsh a migraine as I'm used to. Maybe the exercise held off the worst of it.

Old props and recurring neck problems aye bro. We may not look like front rowers anymore but that neck pain will never leave us!
