Blues were shite but Sharks look to have some very talented players - bodes well for Boks rugby.

I don't think the Sharks were that good. We'll find out next week when they play the Canes, but I expect the Canes to put them back in their place. After all, the Rebels beat the Sharks 46 - 14 last week!

So the blues are a bunch of individuals, is it the coaches job to make that into a team? Will the blues actually get a decent coach for next year, with proper experience and winning credentials. Bad time to look, in a rwc year

@machpants Blues played without much structure or game plan, and relied on individual performances to score.

Defensive line not organised, players not in the right place to contest the ruck and slow ball, some poor individual tackles, and a dud seven for most of the game.

Tana looks like he can see the writing on the wall, looks gutted.

I find it very hard to pin this on the coach after watching that absolutely shocking performance from the players. Shocking defence and just sheer stupidity. It's just so puzzling to try and figure out what the players are thinking with half of the blues game.

Eddie Jones on a 2 year contract then Gatland or Schmidt. Do it.

Exactly, coaches job the game plan and structure, Tana in above his head technically I guess

@bones Jokes aside, I actually think the simple structures of Warren-ball might really suit them. Probably a pipe dream getting him though.

@bones The defence is particularly frustrating, as they were one of the better defensive teams over the last two seasons, but had trouble scoring tries.

Losing Luatua and Gibson hasn't helped.

Nothing has changed with the Blues. From the sublime to the utter dogs balls, all within the same play, many times a game.

Sharks played the perfect game to beat the Blues. Keep the scoreboard ticking over, watch the heads go down. Every penalty, take the 3. Every time. Works a treat.

The Blues are what they are, there is only a certain type of person who can coach them. Step forward, Graham Henry.

Without SBW, there is nothing out there to build things off in the back line. Rieko didn’t really suit bringing there, and Faiane appears to get worse each time he comes out. I don’t see any way that back line will really improve.

Btw, why the fuck was Trainor out there? No Clarke? He better be injured Tana.

If Tana had any 'mana' he would step down immediately. Henry would be fine as a stop gap for the rest of the year

I just don't want anymore celebrity coaches

Yep. The Sharks' big ball runners caused havoc in the midfield as they always bust through the first tackle or got over the advantage line and off-loaded. Once you breach that first line of defence it is hard to scramble all night. And it was experienced players like Kaino and Parsons missing some of those tackles.

Best goal-kicking performance I've seen in a long time.

Those saying Rieko needs to be playing in the midfield only needed to watch this game. Without space he is nowhere near the player he is on the wing.

Remember Umaga tried to get a contract extension before the season kicked off? An extension that would not have been related to on field results this year

Even he didn't back where his team was heading.

Knowing the Blues they probably gave it to him

I've never seen a coach get more friendly press. The herald has never criticised him.

Now this article doesn't include the words "Tana" "Umaga" or "coach"
