On a slightly different tangent. Bit scary to see a player like RdP in line for the bokke jersey. Kind of player that wins them games.

They are going to be the dark horses for the RWC. Lots of talent and by all reports Erasmus can coach. They are still weak at halfback and their wingers are not great but everywhere else they seem to have good youngsters coming through. I wouldn't be surprised if they win the series against the English 3-0.

I agree. They are still generating very very good rugby players, the challenge is keeping them for long enough to build a team around. That said, seeing the way the Sharks plays makes me smile a bit. They are classic Bokke - massive units, who just crush people physically for 80 minutes. Great to see, hard to play against, but bloody good for rugby.

2 things I have noticed about the Sharks - not only the Sharks but they seem to do it more than other teams.

          1. High percentage of tackles where the defender holds the player up and is quickly joined to look for the maul. If maul isn't formed before tackle, pinned defender nearly always lying in the way of the ball to slow it down. Easy to give away penalties.

          2. First player to attacking ruck nearly always flops over straight to ground to seal off. Again a ref could ping them for this.

But I have enjoyed watching them this past couple of weeks, some great ball runners and good support lines make them a tough team to defend against. Number 15 has just a hint of Cullen about him when he is at full speed.

one of the big things for me is their defence is strong. Players just seem to run into a brick wall when they hit the line - and often go back. Noticeable against the Blues, and often against the Canes as well. Good footy to watch.

Reckon they will knock Ireland out in the quarters. Again.

@mn5 It was more of a discussion point than a question. I'm curious if it is something they practice and measure. Probably should have worded it that way. 🙂

Wouldn't be half surprised to see these same two teams at the pointy end. Canes lacked discipline and nous for a lot of that match, but still found the compusure when it mattered, and found a way to win (and without their 2 AB halves). Plumtree being the common denominator for both teams may be a reason the Canes found the Sharks so difficult to put away.

                      Jean-Luc du Preez is monstrous.
