Fucking magic time of day tho.

    e.g.

Incredible how even Sydney and toxic waste can look good at that time of day.

Back from the specialist and it's a mixed bag. The primary problem is this:

... at the junction of the proximal and middle thirds of the left anterior descending artery, there is a mixed calcified and soft plaque, which is causing am approximately 40-50% stenosis of the arterial lumen. There is possible ulceration in this plaque.

The upshot of that is a small pile of medication and a follow up in 6 months.

Kind of glad overall; he said that everything else looks fine, so that's a plus. No major issues with the important arteries.

The minus is that these type of mixed hard/soft plaques are apparently abnormal in someone of my age and relative fitness.

He even said that they sometimes see this on patients who have experienced rapid weight loss, so maybe it even goes back to my 2011-13 efforts and a bit if genetics thrown in.

Medical science eh? Doesn't know what it doesn't know, and isn't certain about much 😉

I hear ya! After my misdiagnosis I've a better appreciation for why they say you practice medicine!! Almost as much an art as a science.

Doing some reading on these medications and it'll be interesting to see if they have any effect on the exercise side of things.

One of them is a beta blocker so the heart rate in particular will require close monitoring.

Can't you just inject a bit of drain cleaner direct to the artery and let it clear the build up?

    Just a suggestion.

You might want to take a leaf out of Bill Werbunik's book. A snooker player from the 80s who needed beta blockers but didn't't get on with them, so he got a dispensation to sink 6 pints of lager during each day of competition. Worth a try surely?

@catogrande not sure I can handle that...

Still, they do the job: BP was about 135/80 the last few days. Today: 116/67.

Lunch time walk today to see how things were. Pretty leisurely pace @ 11:05 for one km but the heart rate climbed from 64 to up above 90.

Did some pushups and abs tonight and will be walking again in the morning.

Rooted. Hopefully will sleep well all night.

Went for a RUN this morning. Well more of a jog. But I didn't walk any of it!

(I woke up a bit later than planned, if I'm completely honest, and only had about 20 minutes to get shit done)

3km in 18:24 which is ok in terms of pace for someone this unfit.

What was interesting is the complete lack of vision problems, even after the 5-10 minute margin I usually experience them. So maybe the beta blockers are helping there?

Also going to be interesting to see the effect of the drugs on day 2 post-exercise.

Was awake since 4:30 so once it hit 6 I went for a run. Vision issue came back (fuck!) after ten minutes, so maybe not all is rosy there. But yesterday I hydrated beforehand so maybe that's it?

    Weigh in this morning.

@nta said in Back for more!:

    Today: 101.6kg - Chest 118cm - Waist 111cm - Hips 112cm

    Today: 100.2kg - Chest 117 - Waist 110 - Hips 112.

So another 1.4kg gone along with a couple of cm.

Feel like I could take a fairly decent shit, too, so maybe even under 100? 😉

    Fucking stoked.

Weekend dumps are one of life's great pleasures. Great knowing you're not under any time constraints.

My 9:30AM dump at work is MY time. Unless I've got a meeting at 10 I'm not rushing shit. Literally.

Work dumps for me are dependant on how much black coffee I have

@mn5 yeah I've modified my coffee habits a little so the effect will be interesting. Previously I'd make a cup at home for breakfast, on the machine, then have another one at work at 9ish. Could time the shitter down to the minute.

I read black coffee no sugar is great for metabolism. I have 3-4 cups a day.
