How long did you have it pre-workout? I normally take it on the way to the gym so about 15mins before lifting.

What did you think of the peppery bits?

30mins by the time I'd got to the gym and warmed up, about what I normally do with Rage. I think that's pushing it with both of them, might start taking it when I get there instead.

I downed it in one go, so didn't really taste it.

Yeah finding the correct timing can be tricky. How much you've had to eat or drink also makes a difference, at least for me. I had one dose when I hadn't had much kai that day and whoa!! that shit kicked in fast and it was a wild workout!

So I was wondering why I was the only one at the gym last night (except for two new newbies), looked on the board and it was seven minutes of burpees for the workout.

Not my strength, I got 77. Have done this twice before with 76 and 80, so at least I'm consistent.

Strength work was 5 x press, worked that up to 60kg (5kg PB).

Nasty - only 7mins but not nice at all. Sounds like many took the chance to opt out.

well done on PB

Yeah, I never look at the website. I just do what's on the menu, can't cherry pick.

I look on the website so I have time to youtube what the hell some of those exercises are before hand. Seven minutes of burpees may have had me consider sleeping in though!

Thanks. Scaled the weight down to 50kg, but should have done 40 or 45.

Took 5.35 to get the 50 reps in, and was so knackered the 400m too three minutes!

So missed all the cut off, but completed all the reps in just under an hour.

Only one person made it Rx.

Utterly exhausted after it, so we did "Bring Sally Down" as a finisher. 🙂

Wanted to throw up just reading that. Nice work.

Always nice to wind down with a little Bring Sally Down :)

Good luck with the move. You think you'll join a CrossFit there?

Yep, have joined Crossfit Auckland and I think I'm starting tomorrow.

I'll have to unlearn some bad habits from the sounds of it, you can't drop weights! Eek, there goes my Grace time 🙂 Be interesting to see how tough they are on that.

Really, they don't let you drop weights? Too dangerous?

PS. I quite liked http://www.altitudefitness.co.nz/, which I was a member of before they became an official CrossFit affiliate, if you are ever in that neighbourhood (Newmarket).

I'm hoping it's a more of a guideline than a rule, the last place didn't like it either but I did it pretty safely and only with the big bumper weights.

It looks like they pack in the punters too, so it may be for safety.

I've stupidly signed up for a xFit induction, completely missing the one off session for "experienced xFitters" so alreay have screwed up :)

Hey Kirwan - given you're the crossfittiest person I know, and because I'm too lazy to read your whole thread, I'll ask the crossfittiest question I know (from reading a news article): What's your Fran time?

Do you remember your first Fran time?

And the duration between the first and your best?

Anyone else out there got one?

I'm thinking I might give it a go here at home after watching some Youtube vids and giving myself something to aim for along with the circuits I'm doing at home. The pullups are what will kill me because the bar is pretty close to the garage wall.

Had a go yet?

Nah moving house and my garage is all packed with shit. Will have to start with technique if I can free the barbell from the clutches of the Boxtropolis in there. Might just be better to wait until we've moved...

I expect my impression will be that it kicked my arse. Doing the pull ups won't be so bad (though it will take some time to get back up to strength) but I don't think I've ever done a squat thruster in my life.

As for moving - we're only going four klicks as the crow flies, but in thirteen years in this place we have accumulated so much shite. I told Mrs TA were should just keep the gadgets, the photos and eBay the rest, including all the bloody toys!

And it's all happening a week before Christmas. I must be mad.

Excuse me Kirwan for jumping in here, off topic, but NTA this is a prime opportunity to lose a few KGs and tone up. Go low calorie, do tons of lifting/carting stuff and you'll kick start your fitness the Christmas/NY. Mate, look how it helped TR, he's kicking butt with his exercising these days ;)
