Apart from his goal kicking, MMac just isn't up to this level. Personally, I think the Chiefs would have got the home quarter final with pretty much any other Super Rugby first five. He seemed to be at the heart of every time Chiefs lost momentum, and not particularly involved in the times they scored (could be wrong about the second point though).

I’d like to think that the coaches instructions were...”I have no option except to play him but that doesn’t mean you have to pass him the ball”

In fairness though he is a very good ITM level player, his goal kicking is good and apparently he has been doing a lot of the attack planning at training. Maybe another almost player that goes on to be a good coach because they have to work hard thinking about things that don’t just happen for them?

MMac was very average but, ironically, probably no worse than his esteemed opponent on the night.

The Chiefs have a couple of good young 1st 5s in their system - Falcon and Rivez Reihana, who was the co-captain of the U18s.

    Karpik has been excellent tonight.

I agree with you. His try saving during the second half when he retrieved a loose ball was outstanding.

If we won even without the country's premier 10, then this weekend is a lock

    When is Donald back?

His form collapse appears to coincide with him adding yellow to his jersey....

Horrible game to watch as a Canes supporter. Don't hold much water in our supposed hometown advantage this week.

BB is well out of sorts and our forward pack is about as fearsome a rabbit and kitten having a pillow fight.

    Or red?
He plays alright in black and yellow for the Naki.

@crucial Yep. Blackadder signed him; he hardly got game time for the Crusaders because others were considered better; and Robbertson led him go.

The few times he did play for us I actually thought he went okay. Provided some impact off the bench.
