@mariner4life get him working on a midfoot strike - there's heaps of great vids online about it. As a solid dude it made a huge difference to my knees when I changed up my technique.

Man, the sun is shining and you sick fu$ks have me thinking about going for a run! I thought you guys were my bro's!!

I need to look at some coaching if i am going to do this properly. My knees are fucked from footy, and about 3km i get a stabbing pain in one spot on my knee joint. I then get a pain in my hip as my stride starts to compensate. It doesn't slow me down, but does get real fucking sore as i approach 10km

Best way to start with a mid foot strike is to take off the shoes and run on concrete. Pain is your coach.

Then get some cheap flat shoes. I run in sandals half the time mid foot strike.

I thought that as well. I have one that has 3 titanium screws that hold it together it creaks like a rusty gate. But I don't have knee problems from running anymore.

I started doing 100m and built it up slowly.

    Today: 98.1kg - Chest 115 - Waist 107 - Hips 108

Day Zero of the new sprint. I loaded up a bit the last couple of days so next Saturday will look good 😉

    Today: 96.7kg - Chest 114 - Waist 107 - Hips 107

Loading up in Week 0 worked a treat! 😉

Seriously tho it meant I didn't need to go for a run this morning to trim a couple of hundred grams off, and that leaves me room next week to do so, and keep the progress going.

Continuing at 500g per week gets me to 92.2kg by Week 10.

Took the rest of the weekend off in effect, as it was balls-out hot on Saturday and balls-in cold on Sunday. Fucking Sydney springtime.

This morning was 5km in 30 even

Tuesday: walking at work for 2km at lunch. Got home, did some body weight:

    2 x chinups
    6 x pushups (elbows back)
    1 minute rest.
5 Sets of that = 10 chinups and 30 pushups

After that the wife had pulled out her work laptop. So fuck it - 5km walk in 44:45. Did some pilates, stretching, and abs when I got home.

Pilates teacher is o/s for 2 weeks so need to make sure I keep up some of that shit.

It's astounding pace. Astounding. I have never been faster than 20 mins for a 5km. Would love to run next to him for as long as i could (500m)

I ran a 10k club race on the weekend the winner did it in 31 minutes.

Eluid was faster and did it 4 times in a row.

The pace that the top guys go in middle and distance running is insane. I remember a stat from the Olympic 1500m final a few games ago, can't remember which one. They'd split each runners 100m times down and the slowest was just over 15 seconds.

I could run three km's in nine minutes. My next km would blow out to four minute split. The idea someone can run faster for almost 42km is insane. Great to watch, unbelievably biomechanically efficient.

I've got a mate who could do 3km in just under 8 mins. To put that in context the All Black record for 3k was Caleb Ralph with 10.25 ( quite possibly beaten since, I bet Brodie Retallick has a decent time ). My mate is about my height and in his running days was 62kg, he's 'bulked up' to nearly 70 nowadays. As someone who came close but couldn't quite manage to get 10.15 for 2.4km ( I still managed the standard for my age so all good ) when I was looking at joining the police these times are just ridiculously freakish.

I hate running but like any top class sport I admire the fuck out of anyone who is good at it.

That's bloody fast, most club runners can't do that. Did you ever do a timed mile?

Ran the GC half-marathon a couple of years ago and the course looped around so the pros at the front ran past us. The Japanese dude who won in about an hour flat looked like he was full on sprinting. It's insane.
