Finally at a stage where i can do more vigorous training and this weekend I will be getting the help of my new live in trainer. The mrs is now a PT and I've managed to convince her to take me on as her project.

She is a nazi when it comes to her own training regime and nutrition. We may get a divorce when Im done but at least I'll look good for my Tinder photo..

been a long time. so ive been doing fuck all for a long time. work is a fluffybunny for time these days but in lazy too.

my wife is a fucken monk with her nutrition and training but its her job now so she has to be.

I lasted about 2 months under her instruction before she would no longer accept sex for payment. Sorry I meant 2 days not months.

i take the dog(a mental 9 month old Kelpie/collie) for a run most mornings and come home after work and do chest and arms for as long as it take to get the boss off my back. after the achilles injury i got scared of leg training and have done enough to get my bad leg to the point where its almost the same size as the other one. I only really notice its small.

anyway ive been down to as low as 92 in the last 8 months. Currently 99 and im hapoy with that. Major factor in my weight maintenance is that i gave up drinkibg for anythinv but special occasions.

Any other PT's etc you can approach to get a training plan for your legs. Longer term getting more active with leg workouts would give you confidence that it's strong and further training is good rather than a risk?? If you are running on it regularly surely it's going pretty well no?

@paekakboyz I just mean avoiding serious weights. Plus I hate leg days now.

    @raznomore dead to me bro.

    😂

But seriously wouldn't getting into more weighted stuff for legs be good long term? Doesn't need to be anything particularly heavy... c'mon, you know you want too!!

Did you enjoy training legs before the injury?

You're probably one of those short levers motherfuckers who only has to push about 2 inches on a bench press and 6 on a squat.

@bones I may resemble that remark. But way more than 6 bro. I mean, ahem.

But I train with a 6"5' or 6"6' guy! He's a good squatter but has unnaturally good mobility.

@paekakboyz i used to like what i could do on leg days without being actually that much of a trainer. But now I get tendinitis very easily in my achilles when I push too hard. I need to do yoga apparently...

It's a vicious cycle. Training and then losing motivation. Dropping weight and then ballooning again. I got back up to 110 and stayed there for a long time. I recently rejoined a gym. Doing more of a specific program. I'm a month in and feel good. Small gains and good weight loss, down to 106.

I really looked at my diet but mostly my inactivity between work and bed. I suppose that really the same for everyone but I looked at what I was missing out on rather than just what my body should be doing.

The whole front of our house is glass as overlooks the pool and deck. The deck is quite a good size and I set up my son's half-court there for bball practice. I realised the other day that I can not remember the last time I didn't coach him from the lounge! I mean I have basically been barking instructions at him from the comfort of my couch out the sliding doors. I can also not remember when I was last in the pool with him. Fucking around being an idiot with him. I just watch him and his mates doing Manu's from the couch! I am far from a dead beat dad but Raz jr is not getting the best out of me and I am not enjoying all I could out of him.

I have found, this time around that I get excited about going to the gym. I'm not there for PBs or anything. I just feel better having trained. I don't go in for group fitness or functional training. I'm old school. I put headphones on and get into it.

I can't really run so much anymore. The mechanics are all intact but I hurt all over the following day. So know I do my cardio of the rowers or assault bikes. The missus put a program together for me and its working well.

@raznomore dude I am sure there is a joke in there about your missus thinking 30min (biking!) is a 'warm up'. I think you are getting all the cardio you need lol.

I reckon the set and rep details are solid for getting back into the swing of things. My 2c would be to add some light dynamic movements ahead of your leg stuff. So you are going in with things firing, but aren't tapped out.

Thing I love at the gym is you are focused on your goals and performance. No one else to beat or anything which is cool. Do keep track of your mahi bro, it's choice seeing how you progress over time and it's always nice to see more regulars in the forum.

@Paekakboyz I like the cardio, to be honest. But we are going to revisit that aspect next week.

Upped my gym membership and got a gold pass that gives me access to a magnesium pool, ice pools, altitude training rooms for spin and running, hot yoga, mma/boxing training and technogym weight machines that work out my ideal weight to lift based on my height, weight and strength level......I need to actually attempt the last one so that I can better explain how it works. The PT who took me through that was vague at best.

one of the things we are all too familiar is hindsight and what an absolute c*nt of a thing that it is.

When I was young training was just an extension of who I was. My brother and I just trained. We ran every day and we did weights every day. Then I had a bad injury and things never went back to how they were. The older I got the lazier I got.....we all know this story and we all feature at some level.

Anyway, it fucks me right off that I've left training, seriously and wholeheartedly, this late. Only 41 and I have plenty left in the tank. But I love going to the gym now. I enjoy healthy eating now. I seek out things to do that are fitness based. I love doing it all with my wife.

Just don't fucken wait. Im not reinventing the wheel or saying anything someone hasn't already and, more eloquently but get off your lazy ass and start living.
