Another wednesday rolls around and another leg session gets the big tick. Squats felt really good again today. Expecting some DOMS tomorrow as also hit the calves very hard.

Not sure if I've mentioned it before but I've been doing a lot more cold showers after my workouts. There were a couple of times over the years when the gas was out at the gym and we had cold showers....and it wasnt too bad. Lately I've started the shower off warm (so can soap up well and actually get clean etc) then crank it hard to cold for the last couple of minutes. Took a but to get use to but actually feels farken good and refreshing. Will be a challenge in winter so will have to see how long it lasts

I'll say it again @JK, wrong thread.

Oh wait, you mean cold showers to help with recovery. Aha! Yeah I think that would help, not just in summer too.

You should check out the Jujimufu vids on Youtube where he was visiting Thor in Iceland. Thor has a super hot spa and a ice spa set up. He does like 10min in each 2-3 times and swears that it makes a massive difference in recovery.

Good to hear legs are going well mate. Ooh you gotta do a LOT of work to get calves doms. Enjoy!!

Son's pre season fitness training for rugby kicked off yesterday arvo so joined in as the guy who takes it is pretty hard case and always puts them through their paces.

Lots of running around the found broken up by pressups, burpies, planks and situps. After about 20mins of this there were hill sprints (2 lots of 5 repeats) and more pressups, burpies, planks and situps. Then another lap of the field before the kids hit the the bags. I was on the hold and boy can those J1s and 2s can hit them pretty hard.

Funny thing at the start was that the guy was telling them it was gonna be hard and didn't want to hear or see any crying because 'There is no room for crying in rugby'. He also told one kid (who said he couldn't go on because he was 'about to faint') to 'go and faint under a tree' haha. I cracked up.

@JK old skool aye! Personally I reckon there are better ways to build resilience for hard training. Train hard so you can dominate on the field etc. But he's the one giving up his time!

Yeah old skool as. He always runs the first session like this. More fun stuff comes in weeks 2 to 4. Gets a good turnout too. I think some of the kids quite like his approach

Yeah actually all lies, was just seeing if anyone cared haha

Had actually typed up a decent update but lost it so quickly posted the above

Still training week days without fail. Last few weeks have been alternating upper body / lower body each day and finding it a good change. Squatting once a week and other day leg press for higher reps. Means no deadlifts on Friday but rack pulls are in and going heavy and feeling good

Diets loose and weights up but feeling swole and pretty pumped most the time. It’s good despite the lack of abs.

Another week of training then off to the states for a couple of weeks for the family Disney trip. Will be the first break from training and stimulants for a while so a good time for the body and adrenal glands to recover

Bloody good hit out this morning. Did upper body and a bit of cardio. Think will be doing upper / lower splits through the next week or two in order to get back up the curve quickly.

Oh yeah, dropped about 3kg while away. I think mainly from all the walking (20,000 plus steps a lot of the days) and drinking much less water than usual.

@JK ha ha trust you to lose weight when going to the states! But with that amount of walking I guess it's not that surprising πŸ™‚

Great workout saturday morning - deadlifts, abs and arms.....

Had been a while since I had done deads and worked up to 170kg feeling pretty good. Did a fair bit of volume at the lower weights too

Pretty good squat session this morning.

Noticed I was always feeling a slight pain in my left leg on the first rep of each set. Second rep onwards fine.... so tried doing a body weight squat immediately before unracking the bar and starting the set proper....it worked!

    Otherwise all felt good.

Been including heaps of glutes stuff too over the last little while. Those weighted hip thrusts aren't just for the ladies....
