@Crucial outside of Chiefs and Jags, the rest of the players are from teams that got beaten (and in the Rebels case, embarrassed). No Highlanders, Canes, Bulls or Brumbies. Am I missing something?

I'm still laughing at the thought of Blues fans befuddlement over Pulu being there.

I think this TOTY is solely done off positional stats ie whose numbers looked best

I re-checked the website and it is based on that Opta Index thing that we have picked apart previously.

Here's the excuses behind the selections. (BTW I'm not agreeing with the selections I just thought it was a fun selection to troll @Jaguares4real with 😉

      15
      Bryce Hegarty
      Reds
Scored a try, made 4/4 with his goalkicking, made two clean breaks, beat three defenders and didn’t miss a single tackle (5/5).
      14
      Shaun Stevenson
      Chiefs
Scored three tries, produced a try assist, made five clean breaks and beat five defenders while running for 161 metres (second most of any player in Round 18).
      13
      Anton Lienert-Brown
      Chiefs
Scored a try, ran for the most metres by any centre (114) in Round 18, made four clean breaks and beat a joint round-high eight defenders.
      12
      Damian de Allende
      Stormers
Ran for the most metres (50) by a No.12, made three clean breaks, beat four defenders and made nine tackles.
      11
      Sebastian Cancelliere
      Jaguares
Gained the most metres of any player in Round 18 (169) thanks to a joint round-high five clean breaks, while he scored two tries and assisted another.
      10
      Otere Black
      Blues
4/4 with his goalkicking, produced two try assists, beat two defenders and made 5/5 tackles.
      9
      Augustine Pulu
      Blues
No scrumhalf in Round 18 ran for more than his 68 metres from his 13 carries, also beat four defenders and assisted a try.
      1
      Steven Kitshoff
      Stormers
Made nine carries, nine tackles and won a turnover, as well as claiming three lineouts.
      2
      Julian Montoya
      Jaguares
Scored a try, made 14/14 tackles, winning a turnover and produced a 100% record with his lineout throws (16/16).
      3
      Angus Taavao-Matau
      Chiefs
Made the most metres (30) by any prop from across the round from his five carries, produced a try assist, two clean breaks and 9/9 tackles.
      4
      Guido Peti Pagadizaval
      Jaguares
Beat a joint round-high eight defenders and gained 60 metres, assisted a try, made 10/10 tackles and won 10 lineouts.
      5
      Matt Philip
      Rebels
Hit double figures for both carries (11) and tackles (11) beating three defenders and gaining 48 metres in the process.
      6
      Lachlan Boshier
      Chiefs
Scored a try and assisted another, beat four defenders made nine tackles and won two turnovers.
      7
      Sam Cane
      Chiefs
Scored a try and made 17/17 tackles - the most by any player to not miss a single hit in Round 18.
      8
      Isi Naisarani

You have Crusaders Jaguares Hurricanes and Brumbies on a level way above everyone else

        🤔

For all the Kiwis who don't watch Super Rugby out of NZ sides 😵 😵

Brumbies won 10 games including their last 6 in a row

7 game winning streak at home Won their conference by 14 points

        Beat Stormers in CT

Gave Jaguares a good game in BA when Jaguares were starting to fire

Battered Bulls + Lions at home

        Battered Chiefs at home

Best win of the season though was beating Blues at home coming off a tough 2 game tour of SA + ARG whilst Blues were fresh off a bye

        Need I go on...........

I'm here all week for any other parochial Kiwis 👀 👀

The more I think about this game, the more I think we will win. Your team is no where near as good as you think it is. We finally have a near full strength team and will beat you by at least a converted try.

You still had a good season and nothing to be ashamed of, for sure.

You are falling into a trap...

Super Rugby Team of the week.
They must have it all wrong as there are more Chiefs than Jags.

@Crucial yeah you just need to read the comments on those TOTW on FB...people struggle to understand they are PURELY stats driven, and as you can see, throws up some anomolies of players in teams that got pumped, driven largely by defensive efforts.

@Nepia and I pulled up that drawbridge Year’s ago.

You both tried to jump on the canes one last year, we had to hire extra security when we heard ferals from Manurewa and Flaxmere were scoping it out.

I was there for work today. I think the reputation is totally unwarranted. I left my car for five minutes and no one even stole it.

Us Flaxmere-ites are an intelligent class of hood rats, we don't shit where we eat. We head out to Havelock North to steal out cars.

What job takes you to Flaxmere? Police, prison warden, parole officer, social worker, alcohol and tobacco stockist, TAB technician, drug dealer?

our pumping, the Jaguares should win by about 20 po

I said it was their BEST win

This was said in the context of a tough 2 game tour where they had to make over 200 tackles and hold off a Stormers team formidable at home

Then backed it up against the Jaguares who were starting to hit their straps

That game was a real street fight Brumbies impressed in defeat

They THEN flew black home to play an team who hadn't played the previous week and won convincingly

                      CONTEXT matters

BTW Brumbies best PERFORMANCE was hammering the Chiefs but I don't want to remind Chiefs fans of that....................

If you are still referring to the home win against the Blues, then you have this completely wrong!

I was at that game and the Brumbies were all kinds of useless and it was just that the Blues and the ref were even worse and the Blues lost that match rather than the Brumbies winning it.

                      Hardly their "best" win.

looking like weather will be good for this match, shaping up to be a humdinger!!

Gutted I wont get to watch this one live...kids sports will mean I cant watch...

i'll be standing on the sideline yelling at skygo on my phone. better be careful with the abuse i suppose in case someone thinks it's directed at the 7 year old girls playing soccer!

I will be watching live at 8am and then heading out for all you can eat Brazilian BBQ brunch.

10am NZT remember. Perfect for mid morning beers if you're that way inclined

I'm in Oz so 8am which is perfect as it doesn't eat into the morning.

So tempted to make inappropriate friday afternoon comments about smooth juicy meat. But I won't.

Quite pleased that I wasn't the only one thinking along those lines. Not sure that is any better though.
