    @KiwiMurph Yeah, but the last Welsh players feet probably hadn't moved much from the ruck.

    Yep, to be clear, I think he was onside when I rewound it

    He was actually more onside than the guys next to the ruck - given there are no "last feet" on their side, technically any part of their body in contact with the ground should be back behind the last body on the ground on their side.

    But fuck it: for me no penalty. And if they'd looked at it with the TMO, they would have found that.

    As @barbarian said last night, it seems the refs have eased right up on the gate at ruck time, as well as play on the ground in general. THe attacking team is getting a bit more leeway than the defenders, and that is producing rugby with fewer penalties.

    It was actually very clever play to realise that that particular ruck was very shallow and offered a great opportunity when the pass was obviously going to be wide.
