Wales star Liam Williams out of Rugby World Cup semi-final against South Africa | Wales Online

The Wales and Lions full-back has picked up an ankle injury in training and his tournament looks over

Yep he's gone. There are not many times you can say we will sorely miss a bandy legged rugby player, but this is one of them. Things have just got tougher.

    From a mate

    "Everything happens for a reason.

Halfpenny in and his three penalties along with tries from North and Adams help us comfortably beat SA who are too one-dimensional without Kolbe.

Then, in the World Cup Final against England, Halfpenny has a 50m kick in the last minute to win it. He wants it. He’s a nice guy. He deserves it. So does Alun Wyn. So does Gatland. So does Warburton. It creeps over the bar and Wales are world champions. Circle complete."

    Cheers Rob

Second lions test 2013. Halfpennyu has 50m kick to win it. Is about 20m short.

    Ain't happening.

    Let’s not forget 2011...

Really? I think Crotty > daylight > Parkes

Crotty's not even on the bench 😛

Hence the 'has' you chose to miss.

Parkes has one thing on Crotty. Durability 😉

So @MiketheSnow ... how are you feeling for this game now that the team has been announced?

My feeling is that if the Boks play well, we take it. I am putting my proverbial on the block right there 😉

My biggest annoyance is that this game is on Sunday, not Saturday. I would have enjoyed the AB v Eng semi much more having our own done and dusted already...

Wales have had success versus SA in recent times. But they will have to throw caution to the wind and play to win. A similar display to that in the QF and the boks should do it easy

You're in the 'Bok' seat 😉

Player for player there's not much in it in terms of ability and experience.

Collectively you have a better unit to control a match by physical means and win by submission.

Collectively we have a better unit to thwart and frustrate a team and win by submission.

As in all things this WC, the result will come down to

taking points when they're available - both teams waste great opportunities
    injuries received during the match
    YC and/or RC dished out

Whoever wins will be knackered, broken or both.

    @MiketheSnow

My biggest wish for this game is no cards for either side.
Such a big risk at this RWC.

    They have indeed.
But all at home on the Boks end-of-season tour.
I'm not reading too much into those results.

My money's on Wales. So I want a red card against the Boks nice and early.

Nothing personal. I have to pick one side because I want to win Superbru. And the Boks are far more likely to do something stupid.

    Hahaha. Fair enough.

Although consider yourself temporarily suspended from my would-like-to-have-a-beer-with list.
Permanently if your Red Card wish comes true! 😃

The Welsh backs have to play a hell of a lot better than they did against France if Wales is to win. Davies should help with and without the ball.

The bench for me is the biggest difference between the sides, the Boks reserve front row is every bit as good as those starting.
Without Navidi we lack physicality in the backrow too, Moriarty hasn't hit form much recently - he needs a huge performance.
Both centres are crocked too which doesn't help, I can see a Bok win by 10+

Jeez World Cup semis bring out the ghosts of Farmers past ...

    😆

@Bovidae not sure this will turn out to be right. I have the horrible sensation that the difference between this bok team being genuine contenders and also-rans is Pollard’s inconsistent kicking boot. The boks game plan relies heavily on building scoreboard pressure through penalties. Pollard’s malfunctioning GPS is a deep flaw in that plan.

It was the major reason the boks came up short against the ABs - the only game so far where the score was close enough for it to matter.

And I fear this game will be decided by the substantial difference in reliability of the teams’ goal kicking.

How many did he miss? I can't remember...

    Thought it was 2?

    It was . Too many!
A good team doesn’t miss many. A champion team will miss none.
But I would trust Pollards radar ahead of any other Bok. Not a ringing endorsement by any means but he’s the best we have.

So some goal kicks are worth 5 points now? How did I miss that?

I'm kidding, it might have changed the game a bit if he'd got them but we'll never know. AB's might have lifted even more too.
