RWC Final: England v Springboks

Interesting stat.
Edit (and another edit):
Link not working, but anyway it shows that in the professional era no team has ever won the WC after knocking out the ABs. At least we are the kiss of death.

Takes too much out of them.

And another interesting piece of trivia, Francois Steyn is the only player to win two world cups over a period of 12 years, both against England

Didn’t Os du Randt do that too?

@Nevorian technically, we had a number of players got 2 Cups in 12 years...some only needed 8

@canefan oh shit I could stand corrected, he was around foe a long time so highly possible

He did win 12 years apart. Wasn’t sure if I was misreading your post
Steyn won in 2007 and 2019 both against England. Os win his first against us and the second against England. So he doesn't apply to your trivia tidbit

Ah man something about the poms reaction doesn't sit well. They just look like sore losers. None of them even want to wear their medals. Kinda feels disrespectful.

If you haven't seen the post match press conference with the Boks it is well worth a watch. Full credit to both men and the Bok team as a whole, pure class. Rassie had a story they all bought into, much like how Razor does with the Crusaders.

@chimoaus I love that bit when he said they weren't under pressure, pressure was not having a job or ending up dead. Like some at home. Way to put it into perspective

Must admit almost bought a tear to my eye when he was saying these things and the kind words he had for Kolisi. Even the look of contentment on his face in between questions was pure.

Hard to begrudge genuinely humble guys like that

@Luigi @Catogrande and the other Englishmen on here: harsh lines. Your boys showed some heart, particularly fighting back in the scrums.
And I’d be surprised if this English side doesnt keep improving. Which is a frightening thought.

Thanks Smuts and congratulations to you and the other Saffer posters. Deserved winners and in truth it didn't look like going the other way almost from the off. We ddin't really get to fire a shot, which is down to the level of control your boys had. Well played Bokke.

England and their arrogant coach celebrated beating the All Blacks like it was VE day. Hubris.
Nemesis comes in the form of the Springboks.
What a load of rubbish.
Most of the English fans are great. I was thinking about some of the rubbish that has been in the UK media this week.
As with most countries, the real rugby people are wonderful. Sadly, it’s the bandwagon jumpers, bringing their petty footballing fan culture, that ruin it for everyone. England, quite naturally given the size of their population just tend to have more than most
This is the sort of shit that I hate about rugby in this country - the people who put themselves on a pedestal because the like rugby. Or call people “rugby guys” like it’s some sort of compliment.
It’s a sport. If you’re a piston wristed gibbon, you’re a piston wristed gibbon.
Most people in this world are good people. Rugby has no higher ratio of good guys than any other sport - despite what the rugby guys will tell you.

I'm going to disagree with you on that one, MR. Rugby, as a sport, is built on certain values, which are driven not just by tradition, but also what it takes to actually go out and play (courage, determination, teamwork, respect etc.). In short, you have to be a certain kind of person to put yourself on the field and play rugby (even do the bare minimum).
