If there's 1 person in NZ that's probably more excited than most watching the Blues forwards, it's John Plumtree. They playing a style that's suits his template

Sotutu should be man of the match again. Tuipulotu not far behind

The defence of the loosies was incredible (current ESPN stats):

      ---- Tackles Misses
      Papali'i 13 0
      Sotutu 14 1
      Ioane 13 0

@hooroo Solid tight match from Akira. Loads of tackles some carries in tight and an important turnover. Definitely not fat ๐Ÿบ :shortcake:

      Promising cameo from Christie too

One thing with MacKenzie is that he's coming back from a serious knee injury. Might take another 9 months or so for him to recover a good level of acceleration and agility.

For me it's not either of those things that he lacks, it's just decision making.

Looks like Gats has taken the Chiefs backwards in 2020 - may as well be 1996, the lack of knowledge in regards to how the laws are being reffed is staggering. I would have thought Gats would hve schooled his troops better.

@voodoo I think he's relied on those qualities in the past to get himself out if trouble, and to make breaks, so his game has to change a lot without them. He certainly could be a better decision maker.

Oh and some years ago I had the misfortune of attending a waikato/Wellington NPC final in Hamilton, seriously good game but those fucken cowbells are insane - never ever take a kid to a game at waikato

@Duluth a couple of steals and a rip? Papalii missed out on ten minutes of defence too.

To be that pedant, he didn't necessarily miss 10 minutes on 'defence'.

They seemed to kcik like a NH side, quite boring with a team with DMac at the back

Sotutu is looking great eh? Great skills, good decisions, workrate, strong, fast, and a knack for being in the right place at the right time.

Two of their locks are out with season-ending injuries, and the most important one isn't allowed to play.

I didn't see a glaring issue in regards to the laws when compared to other teams.

What I did see was piss poor tactical and phase play, coupled with a seeming lack of clear game planning. If the players are going off the books that's one issue, if not then it's square with Gats. If the former then he's got some questions to ask.

Just like last week, there was a big penalty count against us in the 1st half, but we somehow still came out of the half with the lead, then in the 2nd half, we adapt a bit and really start taking control of the game.

Patty and the backrow were very good tonight. Akira will get another start next week after that performance.

Setpiece is functioning really well this season, and we still have Karl T to come back into the team.

The defense in tight was a bit iffy at first, but it just got better as the game went on. Was nice to keep them tryless.

Nice of the team to dedicate the win to Blues fan, Constable Michael Hunt.๐Ÿ‘

The Blues forwards are ,apart from the penalties ,creating a very strong platform to win matches from.A very physical pack they tonight really stood up in the last quarter. With a lot of tight forward carries, which were recycled most impressive. The team are putting a lot of their demons to rest.
