@Tim I get so much confidence seeing Stevenson and Wainui on the opposition team sheet. So do the Chiefs not have any depth in the outsides to call on?

    What happened to Nanai-Seturo?

This should be put on a plaque on a wall somewhere as an example of the most hurricanes post ever.

@Bones lol what has Wainui done all season apart from look mediocre? McKenzie is trying to make up for what Wainui lacks in attacking ability and it's hurting his All Black chances.

Maybe it's just poor coaching that's holding Wainui and Stevenson back, but it's a worry. The Chiefs have totally lost their deadly attacking flair that they were renowned for during their title run and the few years afterwards.

He's not looked mediocre, that's what he's done. Let's just see how much the Chiefs wingers get dominated by their clearly superior opposites then eh?

Canes better watch out for Trask though!

@Bones yeah he has. If you compare him to the best finishers in NZ rugby atm he is well off the pace. He's certainly a couple levels down from previous Chiefs outside backs.

Answer this for me then, why after losing eight games would you keep selecting the same back three? Why wouldn't you change it up and throw someone like Kini Naholo the starting jersey to see what he can do at this level?

@mariner4life Isn’t a wings job to score tries, 2 in 7 games is a horrible strike rate.

You should be a supercoach. It's clearly the Chiefs wingers making them lose.

@Bones those Saffa Rejects have scored 6 tries compared to 2 by the Chiefs wings but if your happy with mediocrity that’s fine.

The forwards and in particular the tight 5 have been a major issue for the Chiefs this year. Injuries play a massive part in the depth of the squad. Alaimalo finally came right then Clarke the grub jumped on him and dislocated his shoulder. To be fair to what you said, McKenzie has been utter shit. Usually I'd be a McKenzie apologist but he's been so bad.

The Chiefs wingers not scoring tries is certainly part of the Chiefs losing when it's their job to finish off chances that arise. Frankly Wainui has rarely looked like scoring this year, but if you are happy with that then good on yah.

@Yeetyaah maybe so but there have been plenty of opportunities this year when the Chiefs have lacked that ruthless ability to turn opportunities into tries and to me a big reason for that has been Wainui. Surely throwing someone else into the fire wouldn't hurt when the season is done and dusted anyway.

McKenzie hasn't been anywhere near his best because he's trying to compensate for the averageness around him. Put him into the Crusaders/Blues/Canes atm and he would be a totally different player.

I'm not trying to attack the Chiefs, I'm just wondering if there are other options out there as the current make up of that back three looks a little limited. Who knows, if they give someone like Naholo a chance he might be the guy that sparks the Chiefs back into life.

@Canes4life I don't think Wainui has done anything wrong, he's a consistent player. I think it was Thomson who fucked up Wainui in a cross kick for a certain try. I think there have been some defensive issues in the chiefs but mostly from the forwards. The backs can't do their job when the forwards aren't doing theirs.

part of problem for chiefs injury's in tight five, be interesting for other teams to lose this type of depth.

@Bones if you’re on an 8 game losing streak and you keep selecting the same players expecting a different result then you’re dreaming. Rugby 101 bro, your wingers are your finishers. The Chiefs have produced plenty of pill this year to get the job done, I guess let’s blame the props and locks for not putting points on the board because I forgot it’s their job to do so.

Your run at the chiefs coaching job next year is spot on. I don't see how the board could ignore it.

part of problem for chiefs injury's in tight five, be interesting for other teams to lose this type of depth.

@ploughboy I’m not buying that, all teams have had injury issues throughout the season. The Chiefs have been in most of their games this year but have lacked that execution when it has counted. Take last week for example, they could have got on top of the Crusaders early in the second half but their so called micro skills and lack of finishing let them down. Story of their season really.

@Canes4life the Chiefs injuries in the tight 5 is far worse than any other franchise this year.
