I'm pretty sure that Southland wouldn't leave him out, and they were his first team. He was born in Invercargill, educated in Invercargill and had his first year of NPC for Southland. So I don't reckon Otago through and through.

Which means that Otago can't have him. Two good options there though.

I'm not making the rules. How many games should he have played for Southland to qualify? Having been raised there as well.

He went to Otago later for Uni I think? That's when he became a star. Otago through and through? I dunno.

My memory of him was that he always looked like he had been beaten to a pulp in a game but never slowed down. Like he couldn’t even feel pain.

Bloody good guy too by all accounts. Southland very well served at 7 though. Henderson not up to Stewart who would be one of the best 7's NZ has ever produced.
