Aaron Smith played a huge number of minutes for the Highlanders, is 31 and is clearly the Half Back in NZ. I can understand the AB selectors trying to manage his workload.
Both Aaron Smith & TJP were outstanding in Super Rugby Aotearoa. Wouldn't be surprised to see TJP being pulled quite early for similar workload reasons.

Both Aaron Smith & TJP were outstanding in Super Rugby Aotearoa. Wouldn't be surprised to see TJP being pulled quite early for similar workload reasons.
TJP was hardly outstanding. If anything his passing game was even worse this year compared to previous years.

Always amazed me that Laurie Mains never picked Duane Monkley for the ABs in the early 1990s when he was perhaps the best player in the world at the time.

, they picked Mitchell, which set him on his coaching path to the ABs. Hate them for that, not for not selecting Monkely who was good but not the nailed on god Waikato fans pretend he is. -
