The superstar 21-year-old scrumhalf that outplayed TJ Perenara in just his second provincial start

Wellington, with Asafo Aumua, Ardie Savea and TJ Perenara on duty, were expected to have too much firepower for Waikato. In fact, it was Perenara’s opposite, 21-year-old Xavier Roe, who sparked the home side to their highest ever points scored against Wellington.

Just finished watching the recording of this.

    Have not read the thread.

Entertaining game. Afternoon rugby. Who knew?

Based on the personnel had Welly winning easy

We never do well as the favourites...ah the joys of being a Lions fan

@booboo My son is a Xavier and a halfback too. People stopped emphasising the 'X' years ago. I think you will be hearing a lot more about Xavier Roe. Have watched him at age grade and was amazed he wasn't picked up for super rugby yet.

@ARHS the Ex thing just annoys me.

Anyone who has been on The Fern for more than a month or so would probably pick up that I'm easily annoyed 🙂

    But ...

There's a local School here in The Bay called Xavier Catholic College. Even parents with kids there called it Exavier.

I've decided to call it Ex-a-vy-ah.

God I'm an old and grumpy pedant.

    Ok boomer 😉

People stopped spelling like that in the late 2000s when phones with full keyboards became the norm

@Yeetyaah I'm not a boomer and you don't have my staff or my nieces. They spell like that.

The odd thing about it is that it works.

My mum is late to the texting show. Only been doing it for about 3-4 years. Her older sister (my Aunty) is really good and quick at is and uses abbreviations all the time.

This weekend before our horse was racing, Mum sent, "Gluck"

I think your Mum has just invented a word, and I like it.

All of the years we have been wasting letters it seems.

Anyway the Wellington half back's parents decided to do it years ago too.
