@gt12 we were starting to see it, kind of looked forward to them

this time should be even better because we should be properly running

things like wireless headphones and the watch, comparing stats after etc helps...no idea how i use to do a 10km when playing rugby....being 22 probably helped

    @Kiwiwomble

Yeah, I used to enjoy seeing that I could improve my pace or especially log more kms per week.

If you’re into tying it up with a weight loss program, happy scale is a good app that I think Kirwan recommended.

On the subject of running has anyone done any sprint training before? I don't like going for runs but want to do some more cardio on top of weight training so thought I'd give the sprints a crack.

@No-Quarter I love some good old hill/stair sprints, didnt make me faster though.

I raced TR Jnr (turns 15 on Sunday) in sprints during lockdown, still beat him...not sure I'll be able to claim that much longer though

        Yeah a while ago now!

Get a rope ladder and cones, need some fun stuff to do in between sprints 😬

Stair sprints and plyometric jumps are always great value. Helps delay the aging process somewhat.

Thought I'd bump this thread as I am doing the Rotorua Marathon on Saturday. Didn't think I'd get anymore in for the year but thankfully we've gone into level 1 just in time (apart from Auckland) so yeah, race day is aproaching!

I hate going for long runs but I do like sprints. Go to the local AFL oval during lockdown and I warm up with a 50-60% pace once around (about 450m) and then I do sprint from goal line to centre circle (about 75-80m) then walk to opposite goal line (75-80m) turn and then sprint back to centre circle. Repeat that 6-8 times and that’s enough for me....

I broke my toe the day after posting that so haven't gotten out, but I'm planning something similar next week now that it's (finally) coming right 🙂

                            alright you fucking sloths

new 10km world record. Cheptegei runs 10k in a sharp Park Run time of 26:11.

For those playing at home, that's basically running 100 x 15 second 100m sprints continuously.

                              Farken crazy eh!

Cant fathom that pace! Have a mate whos bit of a running machine and his casual jogs are 4min/km and then happily below mid 3.30s when the pace is on. Just looked and his last 10km was averaged at 3min 24s km pace which seems good but then you compare to above WR thats like about 1 min quicker per km and for every km.......fark

fucking does it what. i am obviously now totally out of shape, given i haven't done a muscle injury in years, and suddenly i've done two in two weeks. Add that to my back a couple of months back, and i need to take steps.
