@taniwharugby not really angry but its the basics - when you can’t kick the ball out on penalties, you knock the ball on after scoring and your lineout doesn’t work, its terrible. It means that all the effort is wasted. For a lot of what we are doing ( e.g. defence ) the team is so much better this year. Just want us to go the next level.

I'm assuming all the other Magpies posters are at the park, I felt like I was in a Northland love in during this thread. 🙂

@kev yeah they seem to have a great team spirit and fight to the death each week, but yeah those silly schoolboy errors really hurting us.

That knock early on by Hohaia and then Hohaias knock in Nocks break out...both in prime position, 1 we know woulda been a try, the other was building...then that fucked lineout 6m out and they take it and charge 60m downfield, then that mess up after we score a try, results in a HB try...if we ever want to make that next step up, its that kind of shit we need to tidy up

@taniwharugby I thought this game after Southland was a step too far. We just got across the line then looked banged up and very mid season out of ideas. Just want the Coaches to makes some positive moves. Hope they have some courage.

@kev yep, I said early in the thread and every other thread, he needs to run more, he poses much more threat to them when he does that, instead of kick or pass, and he has gas, and I liked that play in the 1st half where we went Matich to Nock to punt down field

One big error from Tom, too slow off the side of the scrum letting Flanders storm 50m down the field.

Matich worked his arse off as usual, Olsen so good round the park, but his lineout...

Thought Wright and Tuiloma stood up well in that first 40 too

    Never in doubt. :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

How awesome were Flanders and Fakatava! Mikaele-Tu'u, McClutchie, Dixon and Ili, too!
For Northland, Sam Nock stood out. Almost as good as Fakatava. 😉

I kept hoping Baker would do his hammie with one of his kicks. And just when I was shouting that at the tv, he left the field as if the coaches heard me.

If Flanders continues to play like this, and gets more game time for the Hurricanes next season, he will be an All Black sooner, rather than later. Flanders, Sotutu and probably Grace will most likely be the main contenders for the 6, 8 and 20 jerseys over the next few years.

@Stargazer I'd say Robinson will be pushing too (for 6 and back up lock)

@taniwharugby I was about to add that. Big Red has a lot of impact.

@kev Yep, big red will be in a black shirt sooner rather than later. The guy doesn’t stop.

was a great battle between the bleached blond 9s though, both with a nice swift pass, Fakatava is a tough nut and attacks the breakdown, Nock had his running shoes on, also put a couple of big hits in and also got a timely turnover, showed all thier cards.

Yep, they were in a hot battle across the park including shittiest haircut on the field. I think Fakatava edged the honours with his haircut win getting him over the line.

How Flanders didn't get a regular start at the Hurricanes is beyond me. Sometimes I feel our coaches in NZ can be way too conservative, they need to trust the young players a bit more and select them.
