@taniwharugby bro - hit some mad lat stretches. That will help out heaps, more than working on wrists or triceps. For the bar position getting your elbows up creates that shelf on your delts. It's weird but try not to move your head back from the bar or tuck your chin. Keeping your chin/gaze up helps create space for your neck - but nothing wrong with a bit of consensual choking right? spice the gym up? :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

One more stretch/compression. Load 60kg plus on the bar then get your trap under the bar and start working dem knots out. Try getting under it so you can put pressure on your trap and also raise your arm straight up. That lets you hit some different sticking points.

Last tip 🙂 check out squat_university on Insta. That guy is a fucking mantis. Awesome material and most of it is really easy stuff.

@taniwharugby had missed some stuff so had to do a decent read through bro!

Man, bench press is so much fun but it fucks with so many other lifts and movements. Not good for shoulders, upper back, etc. But still a great exercise!

I find the shoulders ache if I do any chest stuff I haven’t done in ages ie weighted push ups, flying Superman push ups, diamond push ups etc.....first session back into any particular exercise hurts but then the body gets used to the movement again.

Mind you we’re all getting old.....especially TR

@MN5 anything you can do for shoulders and upper back mobility is so worth it. Especially if you have an office job gig and have decades of binch press on the clock!

@Paekakboyz have had issues with my right shoulder though, not gym related (rugby related) only exercise I struggle with is upright rows as my shoulder doesnt quite allow rotation to keep even if I go heavy.

@taniwharugby do check out that squat_university guy. Heaps of good shoulder stuff! my shoulder is also pretty bung from rugby and a few things he's suggested have really helped out.

managed to get a PB on deads tonight, 4 reps easy, no straps, so know I got plenty more in me.

Feels so much better with the belt on too.

did deads in bare feet today, certainly seemed to help things along.

I have been alternating where I do a heavy week trying to increase my max, then on the other week I go to 80% of my max and do higher reps.

Did 2 sets of 7 & 6 reps at 80% today, felt good, again, grip strength being the main thing stopping an extra couple of reps, but grip strength obviously improving.

My weight still static at 100kg though!

I told my trainer a year ago that I didn't care about how heavy the weights are but she makes me to a max rep once every 4 months.

It was the first time I have used chalk 🙂

Amazing what a year can do. I don't look any stronger but I'm at least twice as strong as I was due to being that unfit

did front squats today, used lifting straps to hold bar, made it alot easer.

Didnt go heavy, but comfortably did 80kg x 6.

Did split my pants trying to do deep sumo pulls with feet on step-boxes, TR Jnr thought it was hilarious! Luckily gym wasnt busy today so I could finish my workout, with sumos being the 3rd exercise...

managed to get a PB on deads tonight, 4 reps easy, no straps, so know I got plenty more in me.

Added another 10kg to my PB, 4 reps (with straps)

Felt great, reckon my single max is maybe another 10-15kg on top?

                                      Stoked!

went for a PB on the bench today, but alas, just wasnt feeling it...did 6 @ 100kg, and went 5kg over my PB and battled through 1 rep

Was bloated after round 2 of shared lunch at work today, so I think that didnt help much!

thought I'd get in 1 last workout before over indulging tomorrow...

Did back, and was my light week for deads, did 2 sets of 8 reps at 80% of my current PB, so pretty stoked with that.

Sitting at 101kg yesterday, which is 5/6kg more than my goal weight, but struggling to move down.
