Crusaders v Highlanders (2 April 2021)

@bones I've always thought that wee mitch is underrated. I doubt you'd find a disparaging comment about him from me anywhere.
Fair win that.

@crucial made alot of tackles in the first 50 or so then I thought he had been subbed.
Fair enough. You would have been watching. I just thought he was very anonymous
@crucial unfortunately he popped up with a couple of shocking passes too. Like many other Crusaders, he will want to flush the dunny and move on.

Was Goodhue playing?
Must’ve thought the game was at Okara Park tonight...

I'm not sure one Crusader outplayed their opposite tonight.
Fergus Burke played well.

@crucial oh aside form tackles, he was, as were many of the saders guns.

The biggest worry for the ABs is the way RM gets taken off his game when his team gets knocked backwards. Tonight was RWC semi-like

I wanted the Crusaders to win tonite but what a surprise. Fantastic from Mitch Hunt and Bryn Evans. Mounga and Goodhue extremely quiet tonite due to the pressure.

Also young Garden-Bachop. He had an great gane
But overall they all played well. The only unforced error (if this qualifies) was a charged down kick of Smiths kick. And the defence was spot on.

@yeetyaah also plenty of comments about party at Tony Browns and Josh Ioanes...wonder which will be better?

Will Jordan looks a completely different player under pressure.
I was thinking about Mo'unga's 'I'm better under pressure' and then he delays a pass and throws it to the ground.
Yeah Right

Player cam would have been fun watching Bridge drop the ball all the time.
Well done Highlanders.

@crucial mistakes destroy continuity. Cutting out mistakes, making good decisions is a major part of winning big games Sometimes we expect too much of playmakers when team is just not executing.

Of course it is much more difficult for halves to shine when their tem is under pressure but I expect an AB 10 to be more composed and take it on themselves to at least try and get some control.
Did RM realize that they needed to put the ball behind the Clan on the slippery ground? Nope just kept shovelling -

Nope just kept shovelling@crucial more a general comment as haven’t seen the game yet just saw online commentary with every play seeming to end in a Crusaders turnover or error. On RM, he has turned a lot of games with winning plays or taking a risk - remember test match in SA when it was his long touch finder that put the ABs close enough to win. I think the characterisation about him being weak when a team is going back applies to just about everyone. I am sure he will learn from tonight’s loss and it will make him a better player.
