@mikey07 no doubt they will somehow blame the loss on Walker-Leawere when he showed exactly what we were missing in the first half when he came on. He should be starting every week from now on.

Savea needs to move to seven and drop the number 8 experiment, that’s half the problem - we lose too much size with him, Kirifi, Prinsep and Blackwell in the pack. I would prefer a back row of Prinsep, Savea and Flanders.

Anyway, we might aswell start looking to Super Rugby Australia, our chances of getting a finals berth almost seem impossible now but atleast we should start giving the likes of Ruben Love, Devan Flanders & PUJ starts. I’d also like to see Danny Toala come into the 23, no point starting Laumape because it sounds like he’s out the door.

Also does anyone know where Kane Le’aupepe is? We could really do with his 2.01m, 120kg frame.

@daffy-jaffy Fair point you make, but I thought Tolai was very inaccurate in his work last night but yes, youth is on his side and it is good to get guys like Tolai, Darry etc. starts in games like this which will benefit the side going forward, but for now, Eklund is the first choice hooker and Tuipulotu and Goodhue with Cowley-Tuioti coming off the bench is our best lock combo.

@african-monkey Vikena is due back for the upcoming U20 comp and Niuia may not be far away so it will be interesting to see how they use them going forward. Entirely agree that Ekland is number one though. Has he got one more game to sit out?

@daffy-jaffy Yup Eklund has the Highlanders game to sit out. Niuia is probably better than Tolai at this stage of his career, but at the same time, I don't mind Tolai playing as it'll be more beneficial for us in the future giving Tolai the experience.

@african-monkey Starting any game is a bit of a novelty for Tolai. Until last npc he rarely got more than 10 or 15 mins off the bench for Harbour with the perennial Parsons in his way.

Captain’s a massive bell-end when it comes to post match interviews, isn’t he.

That stop at the end by Ioane was fucking powerful. Massive strength.

Gave it the run of cliches. "Full credit ", " Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for the spread" etc.

I thought it was amusing, more so than a fake Japanese accent anyway.

@kirwan actually Nock was really good. Fast to ruck, crisp passes hitting the runners. Start of the second half put up two poor kicks and got subbed. Ruru came on and then gave away 3 points straight away but played pretty well. No doubt he is a more aggressive runner but for me Nock starts. A lot less errors, and better pass. The team runs a lot better when he is the link man. As TR says his game has really developed.

It was noticeable how much faster the ball was getting out of the rucks when Ruru came on.

Nock had a poor half, and with the battle of the 9s being so close he really couldn’t afford to. Ruru made and impact last week too.

Thought he was talking Ardie? Speaking a language that isn't an official language of the country, then thanking sky fairies?

I don't really care, and I turn them off (unless it's in French as I understand a bit of that, Latin is also fine) but the speeches are getting a bit tiresome when most of the population don't understand what is being said.
I would do one in Polish if it was me and see what the reaction was then. I'm sure it wouldn't be embracing other cultures, etc.

Should ethnicity and religion be in after match speeches anyway? Stick to the clichés I say.

I liked Big Red's, was amusing, he even took the piss out of himself as a successful "ginge" captain.

@hooroo Each to their own then.

They should probably stop any players speaking, and they don't get better with time either. Wheeler springs to mind (and Marshall).

Captain’s a massive bell-end when it comes to post match interviews, isn’t he.

                              Did I miss something?

                              Think he's talking Ginge?

Gave it the run of cliches. "Full credit ", " Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for the spread" etc.

I thought it was amusing, more so than a fake Japanese accent anyway.

Does it really hurt for them to have a brief bit in Samoan before the actual interview takes place? Even the sky fairy stuff, it’s bullshit to me but if they want thank god for helping them win over their fellow god botherers on the other team then I can think about something else for those 10 seconds.

I’m sure if that German dude from Ta$man chucks in a bit of German at the start of an interview no one will complain. We’ll grab our nearest weapons and march in lock step to the front lines before we realise he’s just saying hello to his parents but I doubt there will be complaints.

Half the problem for the Canes is that there is no media here in Wellington holding these coaches to account. Piss poor tactics, poor selections and 4 losses.

It’s the worst it’s ever been at the Hurricanes but the coaches somehow get a contract extension. Fucking La La land.

In the early days it was also a bit grim for a few years. But agree its not looking great. We sadly miss a first 5. Leger is so limited. And this weakness is hard to overcome. Its worse now than the Hammett years. At least his selection were OK. For eg he still selected Nonu until he 'left'.

Love how the Canes selections came back to bite them, what’s the saying don’t change a winning formula, Blackwell once again showing how rubbish he is imagine running out of the line and missing the tackle!!. I think it’s time to drop the Savea experiment and give Visignia or Patafelo a game and see how they go you might aswell our seasons over.

No. Which is why I said it doesn't bother me. I can, and do, turn it off.

I would like to see some German (and Polish) speeches, just so that we can all embrace our multi culturalism and just ignore the entertainment aspect of the broadcast for a vast majority of the viewers.

As for God botherers it has always amused me how many sides He is backing. Surely He can't be making any money on multis that include everyone?

There was a moment late in the game that I found interesting. It summed up some of the lack or leadership out there for the Canes

74 mins gone, they need two tries. They are awarded a penalty and everyone stands around as the clock is ticking. Zero urgency.
IWL is holding the ball waiting for someone to make a decision.
Finally someone says to go for the corner. Leger is not far from the ball but is gently dawdling towards the ball... more time wasted.
Eventually Rayasi rushes up past multiple other players, snatches the ball off IWL and kicks it into touch

How is it that Rayasi is the only Canes player that understood the match situation??

That reminds me of something I thought during the game. Canes players were often being subbed at the very time they were finding their way in the game and making positive contributions.
There was a short spell there were Jules looked the best I had seen him play since coming back from France and he was promptly taken off.
                                          It just seemed weird.
