I feel the seven points is enough. Don't like a YC being arbitrarily handed out just because one scrum got dominated. Right decision instead of guessing by Pickerill. Unlike the penalty only decision 90secs before.

I agree pretty much although when I started thinking about it... penalty try isn't really reward/punishment, it's the ref saying a try probably would've been scored. Maybe play should restart with a halfway pen to remove the feeling a yc us needed?

@antipodean i thought the rules stated that you have to yellow card when issuing a penalty try.

That's correct, but who is at fault in that scrum? Not sure I'd trust the ref to make that call correctly.

I found this...
A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts if foul play by the opposing team prevents a probable try from being scored, or scored in a more advantageous position. A player guilty of this must be cautioned and temporarily suspended or sent off. No conversion is attempted.
Maybe it's semantics...."a player" but not "a front row".
