@Canes4life @mikey07 I get the feeling your preconceived ideas colour your judgement, like @Crucial says.
After the chat during the week from you I was expecting to tune in and see a halfback out of their league and of no use to a run of the mill super team, instead I see a performance better than any Campbell has put in this season.
@bones preconceived ideas have nothing to do with it. It was a below average performance from the Canes last night, let’s not let the bonus point win cloud our judgement here. As I’ve said earlier in the thread Taumateine was one of many that didn’t perform up to the standard you’d expect from a NZ side.
Just take the first twenty minutes for example, we had about 6 cracks at the Rebels inside the 22 and came away with nothing. Surely you’d expect us to score points from that pressure? We lacked patience, we lacked simple skill execution and we lacked any sort of smarts to capitalise on that possession.
Anyway it was a shit performance and I hope JT, Leger and a few other players don’t get contract extensions because frankly I don’t want us becoming the centre of mediocrity as many on here have obviously become accustomed to. I just expect better is all, nothing wrong with that from where I’m sitting.

Good luck recruiting Aaron Smith then.

@crucial Christie for the Blues even looks a far better option at this point.

@nepia obviously not many good options out there then.

Preconceived ideas. I'd take JT last night over Christie any day.

By the way, this statement from a fan of the bottom team in SRA is pretty neat. Yeah look at all us mediocrity lovers.

He has
Works very hard on defence though, make some important tackles and his pace stays through the game. But that doesn't compensate for average halfback play

@bones lol the bottom team isn’t what the Hurricanes are used to being, hence why I don’t want it becoming a ‘thing’ so to speak. Picking guys like JT will keep us there however.
The Highlanders are the battlers, not the Canes.

Despite that, they somehow they managed to secure the two best 9s in the country.

Both are from the Canes region as well ...

And yet, you want to stick with the halfback who got you to the bottom. You've got a good eye bud

You must be embarrassed at struggling and/or losing to the so called battlers then eh.

@bones we didn’t? We bet the Landers twice...

I was merely pointing out to @Canes4life that the two best 9s in the country were both within the Canes grasp. The Blues clearly fucked up as well.

@canes4life and got to 5th. And last year?

@bones last year they were 3rd, your point? This year they had two last second losses so things could have been very different. Not bad when we are in a so called re-building phase, most notably in the halves.
