So has Super Rugby Transtasman and 3 games vs us actually helped the Wallabies. Even though they lost they played at a high pace each week.

Does that mean we can claim credit for some of their victory? Ok, good!

Plus a kiwi coach, and to think the brass at Oz Hq say we don't care about them.

so do we need to beat the Boks next to gain #1?
That would add a bit of incentive. Or at least, spice.

Congrats Oz x2. Kerevi my MOM 2nd week running. Ikitau great too and our missed tackle count was already 12 at HT. ABs are going to clean our pipes by 20 without some changes but our fitness isn’t going to be fixed in a week. We just continue to battle in Oz v Oz…

Super rugby is real preparation for international rugby. I think the decline in super rugby quality led to the poor rwc performances in 2019 from sanzaaar

Yup, I'd Oz had gone 14 up we'd be 1. No matter how much we beat Argentina we can't get enough points. It's on the line next weekend.

Unless we lose this one, obviously

@nta that ref definitely had it in for the Wallabies. Someone must have done something to piss him off. They nearly talked themselves into red carding Swinton for a shoulder to shoulder tackle?

But fuck him, we were good value and won well regardless.

I reckon the ABs will tear them a new arsehole.

Man the Wallabies smacked them, should have won by more in the end. 4 tries to 1.

I don't know what to make of that. Bar the final 20 minutes if the first Bled we've absolutely dominated the Wallabies. Are the Boks really that bad? Or do they just have a mental block playing in Aus?

One thing is for sure though, Quade Cooper has made a fucking huge difference at 10. They are a damn sight harder to beat with him there instead of the youngster. Gotta hand it to the bloke, I thought he was done and dusted with the Wallabies, to come back and play so well is a credit to him.

He actually refereed the maul properly unlike last week, which was the positive.

Right to copy some shit I posted elsewhere:

Our discipline still needs work and our high ball defense was ordinary.
Boks didn't fire a shot - think they got sucked into trying to play a bit wide, and then went back to their maul which was providing them zero go-forward after initial penalty wins there.
The balance of personnel is about right for the Wallabies BUT Koroibete is a target for high kicks, and while Hodge grew into the game, he looks like he's lacking confidence. Some good counterattack from us which is good to see - heads-up play lacking the last few years
                        Where to for the Boks?
                        They're not fit enough.
                        They're not creative enough.
Their cohesion shows exactly what they are: a team picked from across the world with limited time together executing a limited game plan that is fairly easily blunted.
                        ABs by 30 next week.

Which goes back to the point that Lolesio isn't shit, but he's half my fucking age in his second year of pro footy, so we can cut him some slack.

Will Quade be around for RWC2023? Can we bring through Lolesio or another youngster in that time? Those are the questions Rennie and co will be considering.

There is also young Harrison at the Tahs - who needs a better forward pack in front of him, and Carter Gordon from the Rebels who played a pretty good game against the Crusaders this year at Leichardt Oval.

Competition for spots is the key, but you'd think the combinations of White+Lolesio and Tate+JOC are tempting to have. Quade is 33 and JOC 31.

One thing is for though, Quade Cooper has made a fucking huge difference at 10. They are a damn sight harder to beat with him there instead of the youngster. Gotta hand it to the bloke, I thought he was done and dusted with the Wallabies, to come back and play so well is a credit to him.

Quad, JOC and Lolesio are decent group of tens.

They didn't want to kick to his wing because they were targeting Koroibete's with the high ball. We didn't execute much set piece attack either to bring him in.

                                      Very low error rate.

                                          From GAGR -
"It's pretty inspirational that the Boks are even playing in this tournament. Seems Etzebeth and many of their forwards suffer from serious chronic medical conditions, severe forms of arthritis, perhaps, and struggle to go more than 14 seconds without being attended to by a legion of medical staff for a minute or two. Leaving the care home -- whence I assume they all reside, what with all this constant need for medical attention -- must be a pretty daunting experience. They have displayed true courage simply by turning up to Australia, let alone finding the willpower to partake in a match of rugby union football."
