I'M DOING THE AUCKLAND MARATHON!!!!
-
Hello all,

Wow! Can you feel it? That, my dear readers is the positive energy I am creating through running. I am PUMPED and loving it.

I trust you have all had a great week? No? Well I have, thanks for asking. Let me talk about me for a while. Been busy at work but haven't slackened off in the running or diet department (Well, one blip was KFC on Thursday I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!! (I can see you shaking your pretty face Cindy x <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )).

I am just amping to get out for each run. I am also trying to run my Saturday runs in a different place each week and this weekend it was at Mount Maunganui as I had tickets to Op Shop (But the ticket was no good being left at home aye!!!!)

So a week in review:
15th July 30Mins easy/Flat with 4x1 minute moderate running COMPLETE!!! Easy peasy!!
16th July 24Mins Hill Run COMPLETE Easy Peasy
17th Jul 24 Mins Hill Run COMPLETE but I ran this on the 18th instead as I was just shattered from work
19th Jul 80Mins Easy on grass with Hills. COMPLETE!!! I got over to The Mount and checked into the Hotel at 10am to go for a run along the beach and round the mountain. When getting changed I realised that I had left Hamilton without my watch and without a running top!!! SO out running I went in a Thermal skin tight top (I was batting the women away I tells ya!) and no watch. I'm not at he stage where I can judge how long I have been running for so I ran along the beach and then round the mount 4 times. Got back to the Hotel to check the time hoping I had been running for 80 minutes as I was absolutely shattered and I had ran for 105 minutes! Let me repeat that. ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE MINUTES!! GET IN!!!!! I was absolutely beaming. Had a few dirty Martinis to celebrate that evening, not at Op Shop! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Suffering today though. Can't believe how tight my calf muscles are today and will be getting some extra stretching in this week.

This week is the hardest week yet on paper and the programme suggests that if I feel tired that I should miss one of the shorter ones but no way am I missing a run at this stage. Enjoying it too much. Extra motivation is that I have come to the end of my notches on one of my belts which now renders it useless!! That's great news for the ole weight loss.

So this week:

22 Jul 36mins inc 2 sets of 3min Moderate and 2 minutes easy
23 Jul 22mins Hilly easy
24 Jul 36mins Hilly easy
26 Jul 90mins Hilly easy on grass.

Really looking forward to the challenge of this weeks runs. Hopefully not too many frosty mornings as I struggle to get out of my bed.

Ok, that's me for this week. Wish me luck and if there are any single lovely ladies looking for a running partner, please ring 0800 HOOROO (this isn't really my number, but feel free to register on the fern and drop me a message <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ) -
Excellent stuff
Except the soliciting for female running partners, they will only distract you from your work <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -

OH, I thought that was for anyone - I have set up a date for this weekend with the big guy - get some running done in around the hills of Whangamata. There might be the odd uphill climb... :coolsmiley:
Jaysus, i found it bad enough driving round that part last year, fuck running over them!
Talk about your gut buster..:icon_puke_r: -
ended up on the end of a splitting axe last night sorry Hooroo, with many logs attacked!! Will look at trotting the track tomorrow morning - walked up the initial hill this morning, (13 minutes walk), and then walked on for 20 minutes, and then 20 mnutes back, SO am pretty sure it will be two laps come Saturday.

Will try and time the light right tomorrow - is still dark at 6:30!! But if I walk up the first hill an then start running, it should be right... -
51 minutes and 1 second for a lap. That includes a 12 minute walk up the first hill, which we would run the second time around, which would chop of about 5 minutes, which would then be lost by fatigue, so reckon both laps would be much the same time wise.

Took around 25 minutes to the 'top', then is all downhill, but for a couple of little upward slopes (300 metres or so). You finish with about a kilometre downhill on the road, before back into the forestry 4wd tracks.

And it bloody hurt this morning, so two laps on Saturday will kill me!! Hamstrings feel like coiled springs - although splitting wood over the last two days probably has more to do with that, and the deadlifts last night, than the run...!!

All good to go though for the weekend, bring it on! -

Fantastic!!! Any idea how far a lap is in total?

On the Track for 7am so you have time to cool down before you go to work??? -
Excellent stuff Bart, if you guys want to see how far your running try this site out.
Think someone must have mentioned here at fatbuster some time ago.

http://www.mapmyrun.com/ -
7am or soon after would be cool - I will pick you up.

here's a map of the run.

A:Â Start
B:Â End of the opening uphill cliff climb
c: End of mainly uphill running - I think undulating would be best term, but going up most of the way. From here to D is all downhill but for that one little uphill stretch.
d:Â onto the road for downhill back to start.

from d to a on the road is about a kilometre - so can roughly work out whole run that way...?? -
Not for the common man, but there is a mixture or moderate running mixed in...... or was that just a well placed dig about why I haven't turned up to touch rugby on Sundays???Â

Was thinking more of WTW's advice, but it could also have been a dig! -

Nah, I'm sticking to the plan provided from the pro. So far so good -
Serious question here H, and don't take it the wrong way but, how are your nuts and tits? When I had a lapse of concentration once years ago and decided to try out the London Marathon I was running on a tread mill for an hour a night. I had to vas up the inside of my legs to prevent ball rash, got very painful before the vas.
Also my nipples used to be as sore as hell after a long run? -
Ages ago when on a fitness kick and I was doing 10 and 12k runs my gym trainer told me to put sticking plasters on my nips and because of that I didn't have a problem except when I forgot to and then it really smarted.

For the two veg my running short have sort of bike pants sewed into them so it keeps everything in place <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Learnt the painful way though ages ago. -
Looking good Hooroo. Re: the chafing, I've never had an issue on shorter runs but after the HM last year my nipples were chafed as all hell. You don't really notice it while you're running but it stings like buggery afterwards! At least mine weren't bleeding like some other poor bastard's who finished behind me <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm told that wearing natural fibres as opposed to synthetics will lessen the degree of chafing... -
Proud to report that the Hooroo Whangamata mountain climb / run was completed this morning in shitty weather, wet and windy, but pretty sheltered in forest.

First lap 53 odd minutes, second lap 54 minutes.

The first lap could have been 53:59, I just glanced at watch and saw the 53 minutes, did not note the seconds, dammit. Second lap seemed much quicker though!!

Longest time and no doubt distance I have ever run!
