I don’t usually make it about the ref, but that was one of the most abysmal reffing performances I have seen for some time.

The number of ruck penalties awarded to Welly despite them being off their feet and not releasing on the tackle was shocking.

Yeah only seen the highlights and even they show repeated red zone infringements from red. Only took 80 minutes to whip out the YC though. First red zone infringement in the highlights from black resulted in a YC. Go figure

Williams was really particular about penalising players for not rolling away quick enough, or standing up in the halfback's space (his words). But on the goal line, all of his own rules were ignored.

@act-crusader I agree though Canterbury got away with continually holding on to players after cleaning them out at the ruck so wasn’t all Wellington’s way.
