@hooroo That's how I do it :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes: . Copying and pasting, usually I just google a word that needs a macron and copy it there. I tried installing the Māori keyboard on my PC, but it doesn't work. If it works, you should - I think - be able to get an "ā" by typing a and ~.

If you have Windows, you can just open up Character Map and you'll find it. Just find the character, then select and copy.

@dice Thanks, that's great. I've now pinned it to my taskbar.

Is it a good idea to move these posts about macron's to the Tech Help forum? This question has come up before, and I'm sure it will be asked again. Here it just gets lost.

I have my keyboard set that if I press "~" before the vowel the macron is added. I'll see if I can find the instructions.

Changing keyboard/language can result in weird things happening with spell checker and especially if you copy and paste from something written in a different set up.

A few different instructions. One might make sense to you more than the others.

Cheers that worked for me for most words but for some reason Morena stubbornly refused to play ball.

If you have a Mac you can select the Māori language keybord and you'll get a United Tribes flag in the corner where the language flag is (usually it's an Oz flag for NZ based Macs). You can find it under keyboard preferences.

Then you just hold down option and the vowel and you'll get the macron.
