I'm really enjoying the daily morning walk, where I'm tending to jog about half of it - hence the ~8:00/km rate. This morning was 7:51'km because at km 2 a couple of lovely young ladies overtook me on their morning run while I was in a walking section, so I upped the pace just enough πŸ˜‰

I only use the HR function on the Garmin and try to keep BPM around 150. Walk until it drops to 130-140, then jog again. Seems to be the best way to burn calories without giving myself a migraine.

Get home, do a quick stretch, and hit some hydration followed by coffee and eggs. Think I'm sleeping better as a result, and feeling much sharper at work as well, despite just coming back from a week off where I'd usually have the shits.

I was even up until 10PM last night working on a particular issue, but I usually do that when I am looking for an interesting solution to a fairly stupid problem πŸ™‚

And yeah I'm a fucking data nerd, but tracking how far you've gone in a certain pair of shoes or on a certain bike etc is rad:

      f7aa0822-2749-48a4-a065-6c41e5523e05-image.png

I have had this in Strava for a while, but the other shoes I had (Trail Glove 4 & 5 respectively) were also used casually as well. Both recorded about 400km.

The Trail Glove 6 is a weird fit - very tight to get on even taking into account they're new. But I wouldn't wear them out anywhere - keeping them purely for walking, running, and probably hiking where I don't really need the boots.

Hoping to get them to 500km. The hiking boots shit me because most of the time I'm wearing zero-drop shoes. The boots have an elevated heel by comparison and it stuffs up my knees and hips.

A few recent walks to get me to 57km so far for October. This morning was cold and wet, but fun.

Walk yesterday afternoon as I slept in too late to go in the morning - I've been reacquainting myself with the Dune trilogy in preparation for Villeneuve fucking it up, so get to sleep after 2300. Bad NTA. BAD.

This morning was weigh in so thought i'd better go sweat off a bit of fluid before that:

Weigh in Thursday morning - last week versus this week:

            Week 0: Weight 107.80kg, Chest 117cm, Waist 115cm, Hips 116cm

            Week 1: Weight 107.05kg, Chest 117cm, Waist 115cm, Hips 115cm

            Week 2: Weight 106.60kg, Chest 117cm, Waist 115cm, Hips 115cm

            Week 3: Weight 106.70kg 😐 , Chest 117cm, Waist 114cm, Hips 115cm

            Week 4: Weight 105.70kg πŸ™‚ , Chest 117cm, Waist 114cm, Hips 115cm

Kind of cheating as I weighed in immediately after the 9km I posted above, BUT on the other hand I did drink 400mL of water before going for the run, so that probably makes it even.

As suspected: last week's weigh in was a bit of bloat and perhaps over-indulging for dinner the night before. The main thing is I'm holding about half a kilo loss per week (2.10kg down since Week 0). If I maintain that through to end of November as planned, I'll be around 102kg which will be decent going. If I can accelerate that without causing any harm I'll do it - calorific deficit isn't a huge problem when your body fat is north of 25%.

Another 250g and another cm somewhere. Good thing I went for that walk.

Admittedly this week's result could have been a lot better, because my eating regime was kind of shit. Onward and upward.

Next week looking to be sub-105kg.

Honestly contemplated not doing that - turned my alarm off last night, even. But I'm nearly at 50km for the week so fuck it... And I woke up at 6:07 and couldn't get back to sleep. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Short walk home from the pub.

Yes, the fucking PUB. Caught up with a few of the rugby club committee after 4 months. Had about 4-5 beers including White Rabbit (basically the only dark beer I'll drink).

And this morning's effort - I woke up bloated at 0530 hours after eating dinner out at a restaurant last night for my daughter's birthday.

Given I was up early, I decided to crack out a few extra km on the way to 200 for the month.

Daughter had dance last night. Was chilly out so, with an hour to kill, decided to test out my new down jacket with a short and very relaxed walk.

TBH I'm pretty chuffed with that result, given the shitty eating I've done in the last week.

With 6 weeks left in this sprint, an average 500g loss per week gets me to 101.60kg with total loss of 6.20kg over the sprint.

I'd need to go at 780g to get under the ton, which is probably not too healthy πŸ™‚

As a last point: have scheduled in for the first part of The Greath North Walk on 31/10 - a bit over 30km from the Sydney CBD to northern suburbs.

                                http://www.wildwalks.com/bushwalking-and-hiking-in-nsw/lane-cove-national-park/sydney-to-thornleigh-via-lane-cove-tourist-park.html

Public transport at both ends, and despite a bit of elevation here and there I reckon I can daypack that in about 6 hours walking time, 7 hours total. Add an hour or so at each end for the train and we're good.

Hopefully the DJI gimbals I ordered shows up before then and I can take some nice video.

What's the shitty eating involved. Any chance of getting that under control? With that level of activity the weight will fall off if you can try to get some form of calorific deficit.

                                    Pub friday = 4-5 beers
Dinner Saturday = Lone Star on the spur of the moment
Dinner Monday = Thai for daughter's birthday followed by cakey goodness.

I'm a sugar fiend as stated before, so if I could trim a bit of that it is probably worth another couple of kg over a month.

Yeah that's the issue. It's important to have a life and that social aspect is crucial for most people. Good luck finding a "clean" meal at almost any place to eat out.

Steak, salad and not too many chips is always a good go to and Thai minus the cake is ok too.

@Rancid-Schnitzel @MN5 diet is interesting in the broader scheme as well.

When I was seeing the cardiologist for the hole in my heart a couple of years back, we were discussing the type of cholesterol one of my scans showed up. The doc said it was common in men my age, particularly those who lost weight in a fairly short period of time.

I reckon paleo diet is probably something to do with it - particularly the guys who go overboard on the meat and eggs and don't bring the salad along for the ride.
