I'M DOING THE AUCKLAND MARATHON!!!!
-
what are those fish oil suppliments etc that you can take for joints? That might help. And as you lose weight and there is less for the poor old knees to carry, the better it will be.

And yeah,

Hello hello hello my dear faithful and patient readers.

I'm so sorry for leaving you hanging, logging on each day hoping to see Marathon Man week 12, Marathon man week 13, only to see it wasn't there to read!! Please, I know it is easy to direct the blame towards Bartman for not posting the journal but no, alas, it was my fault for not writing it. Hooroo has been a busy bee! Both socially and on the training ground.

Firstly, socially I have been..... oh hang on, you want to hear about my training. Fair enough.

OK, for week 12 I had to complete only two, 1 hour weekday runs that went really well!! I did start to get a bit of pain in my knee though which was of concern but no real dramas to speak of.

The long run was 96 minutes which is short in terms of recent weeks. I picked the hilliest run imaginable and ran and ran and ran forever up these friggen hills but I didn't stop and when I got back I was smarting big time!! Thought somehow that I had coma'd out and they had transplanted my thighs with Arnies!!! Man they felt huge!!!!!!!! Took ages to be able to relax after this run!!!

So good boy Hooroo!!! You're still training well and still enjoying it.

Marathon week 13 wasn't so flash in terms of effort though.

I had three 48 minute runs to complete and while 2 of them were ok, the Wednesday one sucked big time!! Ran out of gas and didn't really complete it. I am trying to think of an excuse but one doesn't really come to hand except that I was flat all day and tried to run the flatness out of me at pace and went too fast at the beginning and just flopped (Figureatively speaking of course)

Was up in Auckland for the weekend and ran around the Domain for a couple of hours before going to the Shield Challenge!!! Went ok except for my knee really started to give me grief!!! Touch wood team for my knee!!

I have my first ever proper half Marathon this weekend over at Whangamata and there will be a few over there in support which will be nice!! A bit nervous because of my knee but still really super excited about the event!!

Spot Prizes look cool too! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

One thing I have realised in training is that I am yet to pass another runner, aside from some geezer that was stretching. I hope I get to pass at least one person on Saturday!!! ha ha!!

OK so fingers crossed please team

I'm sure I'll be fine and I will try and keep you a bit more up to date.

Also, Thanks for all the kind words I receive about this Journal when it is being posted!!!

Have a great week

Love you long time!!
Your a winner either way. -
TOTAL DISASTER!! Knee blew big time after only 5 k.

Marathon is OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Â

Can still walk on it fine and went for cycle today and it's sweet to ride with. Booking 160k round Taupo ride now as that is in Nvember and I don't want to stop training

Devastated though -
Fuck mate thats terrible news, been such a great thread to follow. Really hope you can salvage something out of this.
The boss has done the 160km bike race in Taupo, says its a great ride with some awesome scenery.

Mate you should at least get a good price for your ticket? -
gutted for you mate. Get your arse down the pool and start swimming, then sign up for a triathlon next year, it means you train in 3 disciplines and don't put the same amount of stress on your knee. -
The cycling alternative is a good idea, sorry to hear about the knee.
Thanks mate.

Just went out and purchased a new bike at during lunch. The one I purchased in January was an awesome Cannondale but had dual suspension which isn't ideal so I got one with front only suspension that can be locked as I cycle and it's still a great bike for off road.

Can't wait to start training again but my bike won't be complete until Thursday.

As my Marathon training is in minutes rather than k's i will keep the same planb and just transfer straight to the bike as I have the fitness, just need to adjust the type of fitness <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> -
and once you shed a few kilos - running will probably not be so bad...

Plenty of great fun tracks around Whangamata too - bring it on - nothing better than a mad ride on a Saturday afternoon followed by a BBQ and 1 or 2 beers.

Quietly though, this also means that myself, Duluth and Kirwan won't have to be rowing any marathons in the near future too. So that little "whoop whoop" you heard from the East Coast Hooroo was me...

Every cloud has a silver lining sort of thing, get that bike over here!! -

Not this weekend but next weekend mate!! I'll follow you!! Picking up the Bike on Wednesday it seems so will get a couple of rides in beforehand! -
I'd run your plan past WTW, and get tips on how to avoid anymore probs. He's a big unit on a bike too.
i think Hooroo will be lighter than me at the mo <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> I had a bad winter....

woot woooo hooroo i'll be on my 15th beer by the time you come in at taupo it'll be gold!

knees suck i've got no cartilage in mine, being trying to 'manage' it, was going alright. then made the mistake of playing some rugby. sure enough picked up a sweet injury, 95% tear of the pec muscle where it attaches to the bicep.. so surgery blah blah blah and a summer of no golf and swimming. farking great.

Knee feels ok tho, but no point running as the half ironman is out so that's one good thing!

So just on teh bike... and getting a new toy cause i wrote one off in a crash last week.

and one of my trainers is giving me some new diet pills to trial... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -
So was my broken arse knee. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
