Sorry Southland, even the tiniest glimmer of hope has now gone:

    Downer Referee: Jono Bredin

The worst ref in the NPC by a country mile, who'll always favour Taranaki.

@duluth Sorry, pet peeve, but what a terrible grammar in that preview: "his side don't deserve".

Boshier at lock is a big call. He's shorter than Blackwell. It looks like Barnes wants to have his best players starting.

There's no way Jono Bredin could have seen a grounding, but he claims he saw a grounding. Of course, because Jono Bredin loves giving Taranaki tries they haven't scored. Video review inconclusive. Go figure.

Did the commentator just leak PGS to Moana Pasifika? Or maybe he was talking about how he played for them in the one off game.

@yeetyaah I was just asking the missus the same question. Will have to listen to it on the replay. So I remember, it was after Taranaki's 2nd try.

Only two spots left in their squad, and they only have five props and two 1st fives, so would be unlikely unless they go with two 1st fives in their squad.

@tim Good point. They already have 8 loosies, unless one of them is meant to be used as a lock (wouldn't know who).

@stargazer I think Sione Tuipulotu will cover lock. They only have 4 specialist locks in their squad.

It definitely looked like there was no grounding unless the touchline angle showed it, which we didn't see. I'd argue that Alaimalo probably did a high tackle to prevent a try.

One of whom (Poloniati) does not even start for the 'Poo.
