@stargazer yeah he just doesn’t look upto it anymore.

Well played Blues, good hit out overall. I think both teams will be happy. Always good getting through these games with little to no injuries.

I'm not so sure that Blues have got away with it yet...

@canes4life Next weekend's selections will be more interesting. Now, the entire wider squad was just mixed and stirred, randomly thrown on the field and taken off again.

    @nzzp Thought that was Darry?

Cheers, watching on mute and missed that. Good run anyway

Laban's even more clueless - most the time he isn't even trying to guess who the players are.

    Morgan has been disappointing.

As he was for Wellington wasn't he. But hes still young.

I assume that Leroy Carter was allowed to join the Hurricanes as the NZ sevens team isn't playing.

If Robinson is out for any period of time (hopefully not) then Ekuasi showed some real promise as loose forward cover.

Just re-watching bits of the game and I am now sure that the Blues 1 in the 2nd half was Hodgeman not Fisitua as I thought, even though he was listed as injured and unavailable. Jordan Lay must have pulled out late? Hodgeman was the only Blues prop on the field for the last several minutes, apparently due to injuries. McElroy and Langi may get called up for the next game.

From stuff "The Blues did go away with a couple of injury concerns, though, as forwards Anton Segner (knee) and Tom Robinson (ankle) were forced off the park" Blues focused report so nothing about any canes injuries

@kiwimurph Ekuasi showed real physical impact both in defense and attack, considerably more than I saw from Segner. I have only seen him at 6 or 8 previously so I thought he handled 7 very well. Plumtree and Suafoa were the Blues best I thought, both busy and effective. Also Evans and Tua went well together in the second half. Both looked bulked up from last season.

@stargazer yeah they were bringing players on left right and centre.

Hard to gauge in games like this but a few players stood out for me. Love started the game strong, Flanders, Kirifi and Iose all had strong games in the loose, and I thought Tom Parsons was solid at lock.

Hodgman played the full second half in the #1 Jersey. Laban's commentary was terrible.

He never even registered or acknowledged that they played uncontested scrums for the last part of the game.

@daffy-jaffy I know it was only NPC pre-season, but Ekuasi was excellent v Northland last year, think he was at 7nthen too.

@daffy-jaffy think the editor got a bit wrong, the Blues scored the try in the corner, then Love did his conversion to go 14-0 up, then Blues conversion haha

@taniwharugby lol. I did not watch it as I saw the game live. It is an amateur fans channel I came across that uploads a lot of lower tier rugby highlights.

'We haven't practised this': Blues win but conditions not suited for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck in debut

The Blues have come away with a 28-21 win over the Hurricanes in wet conditions in a spectator-free pre-season clash at Rugby League park in Wellington.
