Blues vs Hurricanes 02/2022

Tu'inukuafe, Tuipulotu, Cowley-Tuioti, Papalii, Ioane, and Barrett. Best chance Canes have had in a while.
@tim to be fair we are also missing Coles, Perenara, Franks, Bird, Walker-Leawere, Roigard and Scrafton so it all evens out I guess.
-
@crucial hopefully all of the minutes.

@canes4life Fidow too. Playing the 100-year old May can't have been in the plan.

Sucks for Akira
Huge opportunity for Tom Robinson if he can stay fit (big if).
I assume he'll get the c quite often as the team captains also struggle to stay uninjured.

I’d have put Savea at 12, and UJ at 13. Savea may not have the step, but he can fix the defensive line, keeps his shoulders square and doesn’t crab. He is actaully what the ABs need too, not him, but someone who can do that.
But yes, his defence ain’t great.
And Princep jeysus, if Blues loosies all fit, they’ll monster the break down.
@machpants Tackles with his head down too that’s why fainga'anuku bumped him off on the way to scoring

Didn't see mentioned who the Blues captain is for this game?
Robinson
@kiwimurph man I hope the guy can stay uninjured (him and Goodhue in fact) he has such huge potential at this and possibly higher.

Concussion being the main worry with Robinson.

I like Segner too, but I think he might be a year away from really contributing.
I'm a Segner sceptic
Hopefully I'm wrong but I've been underwhelmed by what I've seen of him even at NPC level.
He has an interesting back story and I think that's has generated more positive coverage than his play has warranted

I not sure his back story is interesting, big deal he came from Germany, I actually surprised anyone would judge him as a player because of that. I liked the look of him when I saw him as NZ schoolboys captain against Aus a few years back at Ballymore , and thought then I like his play. Very much a flanker in the mould of Sam Cane type, got a terrific workrate, not overly flashy.

@chris yeah he suffered a nasty one last year in NPC pre-season, but cos he throws himself around so much (in the same mold as Norm Maxwell) its the other injuries he picks up too

I don't rate Segner that Highly,I have seen a fair bit of him playing.
I was more worried about losing Corey Kellow ,stoked we went for him over Segner,If it wasn't for Segner's story I think it would draw less attention to him.I maybe proved wrong but Kellow will make more of an impact on NZ rugby IMO.

Pfffft, people are going way over the top with the Segner criticism. If we signed Kellow and Seger stayed down south, Kellow would be getting more criticism and Segner would be talked about as the far better prospect.
@chchfanatic did a good job in the off season on behalf of Crusaders rugby convincing everyone on here that Segner is an average prospect and Kellow is an AB in waiting when both haven't even played a super rugby game yet, yet Segner has virtually 2 seasons of NPC under his belt as well as being part of a championship winning Ta$man side in 2020.

Its an opinion not criticism.
Don't rate Segner, I rate Kellow I have seen a fair bit of both, so I have an opinion.
