@billy-tell At this stage, NZ is nowhere near it. France, Ireland, and maybe SA. Next layer England, NZ, and Aussie.

Not if we play like last November. But we have the cattle and we have time. SA were crap in 2018 and RWC winners in 2019. Maybe adding Schmidt will help. After the pool game, we can't meet France again until a final.

It is going to need to be one hell of a turn around for us to be in the final in 18 months, let alone win it.

So much pessimism. Sports full of examples of turnarounds in fortune.

Could easily go pear-shaped though: pool loss to France and out in the ¼ finals to the boks.

Both SA and France to beat us in a world cup for the first time? Nah

I think they actually mean it.
Remember that it's their heads on the line here too. They gave him 4 years to build a side for 2023.
They really don't have anyone knocking the door down.

They aren't that bad a side. Much like us at the moment they are being judged against two other sides that are in a real sweet spot at the moment with players, rules and tactics all combining well.

He will still be there next year. If there is another shit 6N he'll throw some toys around and sack a few players and assistants though.
I think they will do Oz and the noise will quieten down for a while.
Eddie is best at planning how to beat one side. His only focus last time was beating us. The time before he had seen chinks in the SA armour that Japan could exploit.
In 2023 though he has to have a masterplan against Ireland and France, SA and NZ because they are all on the other side of the draw and he doesn't know who he will meet.

I don't think they're that far away either. But they look like they're shifting gears in terms of game plan and lacking some crucial selections in terms of partnership. Losing Curry was a blow. Underhill looked underdone.

I like that Dombrandt guy. He should be their starting 8 IMHO.

Genge and Sinckler look like they've got massive attitude problems to me - just shut up and do the work.

Midfield lacks solidity and spark. Barely remember them getting the ball in any kind of set play unless it was hospital passes from hoppy skippy Smith, who also needs to work on a more rounded game for Test rugby.

England should play like England: bosh it up the park, piggyback penalties for field position, and take the 3 or score maul tries. Forget about the fancy club-level stuff that has a few imports involved.

    Winning ugly is still winning.

Thing about the midfield is that Eddie still lives in hope that Tuilagi can string more than two games together before another extended spell off.

The damning thing for Eddie is I think England are playing less than the sum of their parts. That's on him.

Has he ever kept a job this long?

Yet Ian Foster is still in his job.
