So whats the basic plan? Are you bulking and then start cutting around July?

Have either of you done a contest before?

I did a contest nigh on 20 years ago!! 1989 or 90! MrsB not done anything like this before, but once a goal is set, the focus comes on, and whammo.

SO yes basically start up is building more muscle mass, and then start leaning off about three months out or so - will know exactly what the plan is when we receive our first programme in the next day or so.

Not trying to piss in your pocket too much Bartman but you'd be in pretty decent shape already wouldn't you ie 95 kg, lots of rowing and able to push a fair bit of weight ?

ex props usually in the mold of 'power lifter' rather than body builder though.. she's a bit of a different sport...
have you changed your weight training programme quite a bit Bart?

Jebus I'd hate to be around your place during the cutting up period.. used to train at a gym with one of the top nz amateurs - most of the year he'd be a good dude but sheesh the 6 weeks leading up to a comp you'd just steer clear.. grumpiest ba$tard on the planet!

PT has set us on both on programmes - bulding muscle - rep range 12-10-8 and the 'floss' muscles (lat raises etc) 15s mainly.

Diet plenty of protein, sod all carbs already.

Body parts once per week.

Only allowed slow rowing, which sucks, but minimal aerobic activity at this stage of proceedings.

All Good though, week one almost over!!

into second week now, the eating is a breeze, just resign yourself to being a bit peckish and having no energy, and wallah, done!! Not really the peckish thing, but is easy if you are organised.

Weights have been good - although the leg workout almost destroys you - that is a full body workout and a half!

other bits and bobs not so bad, although arms, which only get about three exercises apiece are also killers.

SO week 2, and loving it.

We were told not to worry about weight, as that means nothing, but I love facts and figures, so weight is now down to 93kg, 8kg to go before I can play for Donsteppa's rugby team... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Better indicator is my belt is now in need of another notch drilled in it!

I've kept carbs to a minimum over the last few months and snuck down to 98-99kg but sometimes don't feel up to huge weights sessions as much. Bart how are you dealing with doing weights and having bugger all energy ?

just do it! Don't think about the energy, or perceived lack of it. Just do your workout and rip into it full noise!

That's my theory anyway, and has been fine for 6 workouts.

Love my leg workouts. Don't squat until the third exercise, start out with 10 minutes of walking lunges, then seated leg extensions, 4 x 15 reps, and then squats (40 seconds rest intervals). By the time I am squatting legs are already shaking and thrashed. Foloow with leg curls and stiff leg deadlifts, then calves. Feel like death at the end, but a good death!!

Still going well, Eating easy now, but certainly not a bulk up period, leaning off like lightning, down to 91.5kg.
Hey MN5, get on to the Almonds (kernals) bro. Eat them 3 times a day. They are the highest protein nut and they do things to help the cravings.
Yeah good thinking, I do love almonds ( and I suppose I can't justify having bacon and eggs every morning sadly, luckily there usually isn't time in the morning ! ) I always try and knock off a couple of carrots and apples a day as well...

went in and weiughed in and measured in today, will get results sent through by our PT - Mrs bartMan has shed 3kg, and I have shed 4kg from our first weight in. Also huge losses in measurements - I think I have lost 5cm in waist or something, which I have noted, as my belt keeps getting bigger and bigger on me!
