@Machpants when is the ball out of the ruck, when the 9 picks it up? I just get the shits when the 9 feints and the defenders get on back foot.

It was both, if he stayed on the side and didn't do anything but pushed he might have got away with it. But he made it obvious he got to the ball carrier illegally so got pinged.

Yeah out once it comes off the ground, not as it used to be as soon as he touches it with his hands. You're not allowed too fake a pick up, but nines often used a'look' as the same thing. The refs should be much harsher in what's a feint, and what's a look, I agree

What role has he played? The role where kicks are successful and make more yards than you'd expect in under 7s? One where the backline is humming and he goes forward and creates opportunities?

Nine had been main decision maker, like French teams. Very different than traditional 10 role

I could see the Highlanders winning their QF. They will be up against the Blues more likely, who are far from unbeatable.
