I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with the rules and discussing this on the breakdown etc, but in the game stick to the rules in your commentary

It's a not ridiculous opinion. It is literally how rugby operated from the 1870s to 2018. You can't be shocked that everyone hasn't moved at the same pace.

The reality is, he had ample time to get in a better position and do a legitimate smashed him bro... But carelessly / wrecklessly put himself in a position where he was only going to be able to hit him high...

I broadly agree and have called for that exact system (other than for acts of filth), but we can't blame the refs for applying the laws and guidelines as they've been instructed to do. This is the fault of the players and administrators.
Marshall opening his gob and needlessly giving us more evidence he's an imbecile doesn't change this. What his commentary does is actually breed contempt for the referee. His employers should be ashamed and censured by NZR.

@antipodean Yep totally agree, it's clear the players can't change overnight and highly unlikely anytime soon otherwise they would have already.
Nearly every game now has a card and it's ridiculous they have not found a better solution.
