I'd be happy with that. Those 6 as a front row combo is very strong for Super level.

Hopefully we see IWL & Sangster first choice behind them in the coming weeks.

Seems he is, though I not sure Love isn't as good as Moorby, who didn't look the startling last week.

@Dan54 I think canes fans can take great comfort in that Garden bachops days as starting first five are over, seeing as the coaches have shown much faith in Kings college alumni Aidan Morgan

I must admit I think Morgan is coming on a but faster than I thought he would. I actually thought Love would be the 10, but I now think with Morgan and Love we have a couple who are probably better. Though I don't mind Garden-Bachop as a 3rd 10, the experience is handy for a year or two, just as back up.

@Dan54 yeah Morgan has shown real promise this year, at only 20 I've been pretty impressed at how he's run the Canes backline. For his size he seems to hold his own on defence aswell which is great.

It's almost safe to say Peter Umaga-Jensen is off. He played for Wainui last week and isn't injured.

@Canes4life hopefully to the highlanders then, although good luck shifting BIG AND STRONG Paea from the starting line up.

@Bones that would be my guess. A midfield combo with his bro would be pretty sweet for the Highlanders. I hope he goes down there and shows Holland exactly why he was picked for the All Black's in 2020.

Howden at no.8? He's big and mobile so will do a job, but he is usually a 6/lock. Laubscher was deserving of another start, or is he injured now too?

He’s got a minor injury. 8 seems to be problem area for the Canes. Iose, Flanders, Laubsher and Savea all injured / have niggles.

Howden is definitely a 6 but I’m sure he can do the job at 8. I’ve never seen him play lock but I’m sure he could.

@Canes4life I saw Howden playing lock for the NZ Barbarian schools. Incidentally the hooker in that team was George Bell. I'm not sure if Howden has been used at lock for Manawatu though.

@Bovidae he certainly looks like the perfect size to be a quality 6. I know he’s still young so it will be interesting to see how he develops over the next couple years.

I agree he must be leaving, but does this mean Jordie must be staying? I think Jordie was only signed for this year.

@foobaNZ yeah I'd say Jordie will be signed up. The silver lining of PUJ leaving is the rise of Sullivan and the pending introduction of Riley Higgins.

If Jordie shifts into the 12 jersey full time, the Canes will be after a few outside backs knowing Goosen is leaving aswell.

Maybe they should go after someone like Chay Fihaki from the Crusaders or Jacob R.K from the Blues.

The Canes also have Harry Godfrey coming through the system so he will hopefully be in the main squad next year aswell.
